For the last few days I've been waiting for Something Exciting Online
and it still hasn't happened yet.

Apart from Christmas, what are you all excited about? And when is it going to happen?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:08, 64 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I am excited about Rage Against the Machine playing in Finsbury Park in June
Everything else is quite boring.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:10, Reply)
Are you marking the days off with a big magic marker on a calendar hanging up in your kitchen?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:11, Reply)
No
but only because my wife is against anything other than framed paintings, photos or prints being on any walls. I pity my poor daughter when she wants to put up posters when she is older. I had a chalkboard in the kitchen and one day I came home to find it gone. When I questioned this she just said "it looked shit" She's a bit house proud that one.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:15, Reply)
You must do this in secret then
Have you got a small cupboard under the stairs in which you keep spare lightbulbs, candles and the shoe cleaning equipment? If so, you must keep your calendar in there so you can retire each day to mark off the coming of RATM.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:17, Reply)
We have a large cupboard under the stairs
where we keep my PA speakers her wedding dress and a bunch of stuff she considers untidy and chucks in there. I expect to be chucked in there myself soon but yes I think I shall do my part for the rebellion and put a calendar up in there. There's lighting in the and everything.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:24, Reply)
Sorted.
I expect you could take a slice of cheese with you too, should you feel the need.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:29, Reply)
Brie?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:30, Reply)
If you go with a soft cheese then you have to have wine also. It's the law.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:36, Reply)
No booze for me please
can I have extra cheese instead?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:43, Reply)
Only blue cheese I'm afraid
as that tastes vile unless it's with rare steak. Don't forget to take some Poo at Paul's House air freshner with you into the cupboard otherwise you may pass out from the fumes.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:44, Reply)
I love blue cheese :P
Blue brie!
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 10:11, Reply)
Fuck that
I've got a very large "Attack of the Clones" poster that used to be on display on the side of a bus shelter, so it's about 7' x 4'. You can have that if you want.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:40, Reply)
I tried to break in to many bus shelters to steal star wars posters
and failed.

Can I really have it? :P
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:44, Reply)
What's that then dearest?
*is in Stockholm at the moment*
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:11, Reply)
All will be revealed when it happens
I'll put a link up on arsebook because it involves my Real Identity...DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!

Yes, I *am* Batman.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:12, Reply)
I hope you're dealing with the syndrome well this time
Are you still dragging a suitcase around with you?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:15, Reply)
no, at least not yet
Will be tomorrow evening though ;)
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:30, Reply)
I shall be thinking of you and the small midget called Brian who is inside the suitcase. Poor Brian.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:36, Reply)
Poor Brian nothing
he lives in the suitcase until he learns!
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:38, Reply)
What does he have to learn this time?
Don't forget all the mess there was when you made him learn sword dancing.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:43, Reply)
he's a goddamned liar
I didn't force him to do anything. Midget butlers, they're more hassle than they're worth *sigh*
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:51, Reply)
I am excited about 9 days from now
Are you waiting for a live webcast by the ghost of Les Dawson?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:13, Reply)
Oooh! I didn't know about that one
*gets excited*

Will he be playing the piano?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:14, Reply)
Yes
And both his dead mothers-in-law will be there.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:16, Reply)
Hopefully he'll also appear in drag
without his teeth in. I shall watch this. Is it going to be on YouTube?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:18, Reply)
BBC i-player first
I'll keep you posted. Rumours of a reunion with Roy Barraclough.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:22, Reply)
ACE!
I shall plan a whole Dawson themed evening and invite people round for pork scratchings and pints of warm washing up liquid.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:24, Reply)
I'm knocking myself out
With a nice cream cake.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:28, Reply)
that's your shelvers' conference right?
Rock and roll.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:29, Reply)
Oh you little git
It's actually a morning discussing how to serve library users with mental health issues.
So I predict your life will be getting better shortly afterwards.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:44, Reply)
I'm listening to Not Nineteen Forever on repeat
I'm quite excited about next Friday too
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:50, Reply)
Pull yourself together ;)

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:56, Reply)
I've got a few things
Suppose the main thing for me will be Bloodstock in August.

Then again a friend of mine is going away for a year at the end of July, so that'll be one almighty party! She's off to Singapore, lucky bitch.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:16, Reply)
You have nothing before July or August to look forward to?
I know, you could buy yourself a nice big Thornton's Easter egg and then hide it somewhere and get excited in the run up to Easter Sunday. Then on Easter Sunday you could lock yourself in a small cupboard and eat the whole egg in one go. I feel quite excited at the thought for you.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:20, Reply)
Not really
I've got my 22nd birthday, going to be a lot quieter than last years. Also a few friends birthdays.

Apart from that, I'm just going to be attempting to avoid spending money.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:28, Reply)
I have the solution for you!
Ask PhilieJoe if you can stay in his understairs cupboard for a while - you'll save money in there and he might feed you with cheese if you're good.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:32, Reply)
I'm going on my first 2 week holiday in many years soonish
which will be nice. big, exciting plans for while on holiday too :-D

scored some tickets for the Doves and Mumford and Sons at the Eden project as well
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:19, Reply)
Where are you going on holiday?
Or is that a secret? Along with the Big Exciting Plans for when you're away ;)
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:21, Reply)
outer hebrides
it's going to be lovely. the plans are fairly secret. roota knows but she is my BFF ;-)
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:32, Reply)
Not your traditional holiday destination but they say that Balamory is beautiful this time of year.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:39, Reply)
I'm not big on traditional holiday destinations
too many other people.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:49, Reply)
OOOOOOH!!!

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:22, Reply)
I'm buying my first printer.
It'll be a cheap-as-chips multi-function job just to get some flyers printed, but it means I can start touting for windows to clean and is therefore an Exciting Thing.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:25, Reply)
How much are printers?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:27, Reply)
£30-£26,000.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:35, Reply)
*chortle*

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:37, Reply)
I'll take the cheap one.
Is that colour?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:45, Reply)
Yeah, cheap as shit, you get what you pay for etc.
It's only to print some flyers etc so doesn't need to be particularly special. I do want an incorporated scanner so I can scan my doodles.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:55, Reply)
I'm going to get one
I need a new Wall of Heroes
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:56, Reply)
have you bought already?
we got ours through pixmania.com (though I think there is a UK site as well) - decent prices for businesses.

we got a Samsung multifunction colour for about 270, and a Brother mf b/W for about 190 (though those are in euros)
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:54, Reply)
I'll check it out, thanks.
My budget is about sixty quid tops else we won't eat this week :)
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 10:00, Reply)
Evelyn Evelyn in April
and potentially The Stranglers this Saturday. Need to see if I can pay on the door.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:34, Reply)
The Stranglers went down in my estimation this week when I heard one of them being interviewed on the radio
and he referred to his art collection as one of his best possessions because it's like owning a woman (I'm paraphrasing here). This made me spit bile at passing motorists.
It was not a pretty sight, I can tell you.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:42, Reply)
You'd been eating Wotsits hadn't you?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:44, Reply)
Actually I don't care for Wotsits because they leave my fingers all orange and then stick to my teeth.
Rather like Dale Winton.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:47, Reply)
Eat them with chopsticks
Sorted.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 11:33, Reply)
what am i waiting for?
damned if I know, but it sure as hell won't be a surprise when it comes.

that, and a possible trip to lofoten in july
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 9:43, Reply)
Toasties for lunch, end of term, Cornwall bash, maternity leave, giving birth, marrying Catface.
In that order (chronologically speaking).
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 10:03, Reply)
I'd take all of those
Except the giving birth and being a parent bit.
I'll swap those for 'attending a birth' and 'being a babysitter because you get free food and access to Sky tv.'
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 10:06, Reply)
We all know what I'm waiting for.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 11:17, Reply)
Jeff Bridges?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 11:18, Reply)
That's damn right.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 11:22, Reply)
And meeeeeeee!
I mean you're also waiting for me, not that I'm also waiting for Jeff.
He's all yours honey.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 11:25, Reply)
Pfft!
Goes without saying.
