School Trip
Right you lot.

Saturday 27th November, Brixton Academy - Motorhead 35th Anniversary show. We're all going.

I'll need letters of permission from your parents, and NO FUCKING EXCUSES WILL BE TOLERATED. Bollocks like honeymoons, major surgery etc. will not be deemed valid get-outs.

The only person excused is AA, because he'll be blubbing at home to the sounds of Keane that night.

Motorwho?

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:54, Reply)
You wouldn't know them
because they aren't from the past fortnight.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:55, Reply)
I'm very "of the now"
when do tickets go on sale and how much are they?
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:56, Reply)
they went on sale at 9am today and are £37.75 which is a bit fucking steep
but having been to the 25th and 30th Anniversary gigs I can assure you it's worth the expense.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:01, Reply)
hmm I won't be able to get them this month, I'll keep an eye out for resale though.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:02, Reply)
Have you bought yours yet?

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:07, Reply)
lunchtime is the plan

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:07, Reply)
Hmmm...
I'm sorely tempted.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:08, Reply)
lunchtime is A plan
I wouldn't say it's THE plan.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:08, Reply)
You need better lunches.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:10, Reply)
touche
I can't decide where to go for lunch today. I'm not in the city centre office so my friday treat of jacket potato isn't viable.

There's a Morrisons down the block but it's pretty far. And it doesn't have Morrisons' only redeeming feature: The Amazing Salad Bar of Awesomeness. And Cheese.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:11, Reply)
Go to their deli section and buy a pile of filth.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:15, Reply)

Alright then.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:54, Reply)
Fuck me thats months and months away
but for now, I'm keen, not Keane
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:54, Reply)
ok

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:56, Reply)
I don't think I could afford it anyway.
That's about the time of Damnation Festival, so that takes most of my money.

Although I'm a bit gutted, I quite like Motorhead. Favourite track is "The Road Crew"
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 11:58, Reply)
Sounds Good to me
Will they do 1916?
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:00, Reply)
it's not a regular live choice
but you never know....
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:02, Reply)
how likely is it that they will do Orgasmatron?

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:04, Reply)
*calls Paddy Power*
Paddy says 12/1
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:05, Reply)
I've seen them do it at least once.
In all truth at full blast on the night, they could play 'Space Oddity' and it'd be fucking brilliant.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:06, Reply)
*"Lemmy - will you do 1916?"*
Lemmy says no.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:03, Reply)
Maybe I should ask for anything but 1916
A bit of reverse psycology.

I don't really care. I'm going.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:06, Reply)
Have a banner.
'Play anything but 1916!'
That'll do it.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:12, Reply)
Only if you hold the other end

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:19, Reply)
Ooooh.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:22, Reply)
Motorhead. Alright.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:04, Reply)
Motorhead always reminds me
of this guy that used to come into the bar I worked in. He always used to wear a Motorhead patched leather waistcoat. He had Ozzie tattooed down one arm and Sabbath tattooed down the other.

Only Sabbath was spelled Sabbaht. Which made me laugh every time I saw him and I'd have to hide behind the Warsteiner pump so he wouldn't see me snickering.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:06, Reply)
no Iron Maiden?
what a disgrace
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:11, Reply)
He may well have had
Iorn Mayden tattooed on his back, but it would have been hidden by his Motorhead waistcoat. He looked like Tom Savini.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:27, Reply)
Tempted
but it's quite early days yet. They could die before then
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:06, Reply)
So could I

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:08, Reply)
it's a risk you'll have to take

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:09, Reply)
One of many I take every single day....

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:11, Reply)
Well bequeath me your ticket just in case

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:11, Reply)
I discarded that possible reply
as being too Harold Shipman like
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:12, Reply)
who's more likely
you or lemmy?
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:12, Reply)
Too close to call.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:15, Reply)
I am indifferent to Motorhead.
I'm assuming that, as a non-regular /ot contributor, I'm exempt.

Phew.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:11, Reply)
NO EXCUSES.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:15, Reply)
One should never assume, Enzyme.
I think I shall take you as my +1.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:16, Reply)
Can't I stay behind and listen to Keane too?
Gawd, I hate this class. Ugh!
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:15, Reply)
NO.
Look if this attitude doesn't change we are going to have serious words, young lady. Pull your socks up and knuckle down.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:17, Reply)

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:19, Reply)

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:24, Reply)
what's he gonna do? bore me with tales of his wasted youth spent sniffing library books?

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:28, Reply)
Those weren't library books.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:31, Reply)

I'm still not going on your stupid trip.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:32, Reply)

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:43, Reply)
We can all stand there and wait for them to play "Ace of Spades"

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:18, Reply)
That's my favourire, but I prefer the Mark Ronson cover with Sting

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:19, Reply)
I think Keane did a cover
as did Bowie.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:20, Reply)
*runs for cover*

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:23, Reply)
Nah, Monty doesnt take the bait anymore
even though he likes a "one-trick-pony" band like Motorhead
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:24, Reply)
If the trick is a good one, then that's fine by me.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:25, Reply)
I liked it when they were on "The Young Ones"
I believe they sang a song, what was it..."Five of Clubs"?..."Jack of Diamonds"?...
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:26, Reply)
The Ramones Syndrome.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:27, Reply)
I must admit to having a soft spot for The Ramones

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:30, Reply)
I LOVE them.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:33, Reply)
I take it that you've seen them do "Rock and roll high school" on The Old Grey Whistle test?
they did a song for the film "Pet Semetary", and "Blitzkrieg Bop" features heavily in the book.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:35, Reply)
I certainly have
The finest footage I've ever seen is the New Year's Eve London show from (I think) '78 - the gig immortalised in the unimpeachable 'It's Alive' LP. It's incredible.
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 13:13, Reply)
Hopefully I'll be having sex by then so will be too busy to attend.

(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:25, Reply)
Have sex with Lemmy
Two birds - one stone. Win/win etc...
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 12:28, Reply)
Lemmy is a smooth operator.
Having been turned down by an 18-year-old friend of mine, he followed up with the classic - "Are you sure? I'm LEMMY."
(, Fri 19 Mar 2010, 13:17, Reply)
Maybe buy a ticket 'just in case', eh?
