and get pie and chips. Not been for a good 7 months as I've been trying to be good, but it's just time for a pie.

That would probably be a step too far off the diet though.

It's got a vauge folk element to it - interesting band though - you should check em out

Check him out at www.harperspace.com or live if you get the chance. He tours a lot and I've never been disappointed by a gig he did.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 21:01, Reply)
Saw them gig a couple of times about 18/20 yrs ago in Liverpool or Manchester I think. Might have been Nottingham or Leeds.
Anyway, a cracking band. Kind of remind me of early mercury rev but I don't know why.

Bookmarked the link you sent, so I can use it when I get a computer with working speakers! Always on the lookout for new bands

If you get the chance to see him grab it with both hands, it will probably change your life.
The way he de-tunes and re-tunes whilst playing is just amazing. Changing strings (a common theme, he's that ferocious with the guitar) mid-song, using hammering-on and such to keep it going whilst he gets the instrument sorted.
The man is a fucking legend.
If you can afford £20 at the moment then go to harprspace and buy a copy of "Double Life".
And let me know what you think.
If you TRULEY don't like it then I will buy it off you for the cover price ;-)

I can spare 20 quid at the moment - so I'll give that a go when I get back home, cheers!

and have been to the grocery store and the DIY store. I'm now officially cleared to drive, so I'm making up for some lost time.
The doctor was astonished by how well I was progressing, and especially by my lack of pain. I start physical therapy soon.

Physical therapy...
Why so?
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 20:35, Reply)
Surgery was about six weeks ago. I now have a big titanium plate and a half dozen screws in my ankle holding the fibula together that will be in there forever, and a scar that would look at home on Frankenstein's monster.
Still using the crutches and will likely do so for weeks to come. Makes people look twice when I pull into a disabled parking space, as I otherwise look like a strong fit sort. They then look guilty when I pull out the crutches and hobble about...

I get funny looks on days like today when I have to go out....then out comes the cane and it's all ok in the eyes of the fucker that's only got a spacker sticker because they're fat.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 20:47, Reply)
But I know one girl that weighs 200lbs who got a spackerplackard for it.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 21:30, Reply)
That's a bit bollocks, no?
Not talking about the eternal airport stuff but titanium has a really good scrap value, thought you might get a half decent weigh-in...

Glad you can drive again. I'm having a very bad pain day today, and have had to ask a friend to bring over catfood cos I can barely walk.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 20:36, Reply)
That I felt a LOT of physical pain.
Joints, old injuries, general body-parts.
It's calmed down a bit now but still worse than I ever used to feel it.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 20:58, Reply)
Mine is probably just wear and tear.
Apart from the L1/L2 spinal dislocation 17yrs ago, the C3/C4 prolapsed disc 12yrs ago and the crushed left foot 8yrs ago.
The tingling and numbness in my hands has reduced by at least 30% since I stopped drinking but now every time I pick up a hammer I get a stabbing pain right up my arm. I guess the pain was numbed by the booze for a long time but the effect on my nervous system has been quite profound.
the arthritis in my lower spine has become a lot more evident too.
Bollox.
But what to do?
Just get on with it and get back to the Yoga I guess, that always used to help, guess it wouldn't hurt (any more) to try it again?

My car insurance is £1380 a year if I pay in a lump sum and £1950 if I pay monthly (I'm 20 and have had a recent accident). However, my insurance company (Elephant) say that I can pay monthly for a while before paying off the rest of the lump sum when I can afford to. If I do this, then I pay £1380 minus the amount I've paid in monthly bills. It follows that if I pay monthly for four or five months before paying off the total, my company will be charging me the lump sum amount, but letting me pay it more or less on my own terms.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 20:59, Reply)
That is fucking expensive! My insurance is $900 (exchange rate approx $1.42 to the pound) a year, and that's with a DUI 6 years ago, albeit no accidents, but it's fully comp with a high end company.
(, Sat 15 May 2010, 21:17, Reply)
If I'd tried to get a car when I was seventeen, it would have been almost three thousand.
