Ah
And I like to buy the meat at the butchers and the fish at the fishmonger in the market. It's much better than in the supermarket.

Well said. And how continental of you.

Ha!
I love going to the market. Bury and Stockport are very good. I usually go to Manchester Arndale, as it's close, but it doesn't have many things.

I'm a sucker for those Italian markets that tour town centres round here.
Waaaay over priced foods - but then where else could I get them?
I spent £25 just on cheese last time I went.
Why does B3ta talk turn to food mid-afternoons?

I'm on a diet as well :(
but I am temporarily calling it off at Pizza Express tonight.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:36, Reply)
I'm going to Florence on Friday
We'll see how my diet copes with that... I think I'll probably get fed up for not being able to eat what I want, and just stuff myself.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:41, Reply)
I'm so jealous
Enjoy Florence for me
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:49, Reply)
I'll think of you while feeling guilty for enjoying my pizza
I can't bring anything back, though, as the bags cost more than the ticket, so I'm not paying for luggage.

If you want to buy good continental food
Aldi is usually good, but you have to be lucky, as they don't stock the same thing twice, which is annoying.

There is a fantastic little shop in Didsbury that sells great cheeses, sausages and continental foods. It's more expensive than the supermarket, but it so good.

I think we all think about tea at this time. I have a bit of nervous stomachache (if that's the real spelling, it's a very funny word), so no food for me right now.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:40, Reply)
it is the right spelling
but has a space 'stomach ache'
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:47, Reply)
Why?
You write headache, and backache, don't you?
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:49, Reply)
that is a very good point
for which I don't have an answer. I suppose technically headache and backache should have a space too.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:51, Reply)
Ay
English and it lack of rules. It makes my head in.

I have a good market in my town but never have time to get to it as I work in another town.

(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:28, Reply)
I have a (different) proposition.
The market stallholders should set up their own on-line shopping delivery service. 'Avacart' sort of thing. Then we could all get market goodies instead of prepacked Asda shite.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:53, Reply)
I second it!

(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:57, Reply)
I should do that
the people at the meat counter in my local supermarket are all completely incompetent - 4 x 200g steaks? that'll come out to almost 900g then - fucking numbnuts
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:31, Reply)
I would do that
But I can't cook, and butchers don't sell oven food.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:33, Reply)
you can cook sausages in the oven.

(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:35, Reply)
and a roast

(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:38, Reply)
And joints of meat.
*Edit Damn you Vippers.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:40, Reply)
did it take you 2 minutes to write those 4 words?

(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:44, Reply)
Yes.
They are in the right order, well thought out and have some semblance of meaning.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:54, Reply)
There is a great cooking tool
It's a silicone tray with a cover, and another tray with holes (like a steamer) that goes inside.

You put lemon juice and a few herbs on the bottom of the no-holed-tray, then the holed-tray with whichever meat you fancy, then cover and to the oven. I promise it'll be delicious.
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 15:43, Reply)
nor could I really up to a year ago
but its surprisingly easy to cook nice stuff, even if at the moment im limited to about 10 different dishes.

plus stir frys and pasta sauce (tin of chopped tomatoes plus anything from sausages, bacon, onion, mushroom, garlic, peppers, lob in a bit of oregano or mixed 'erbs and serve spinkled with parsley or basil and your done)
