Last night I was running a slight temperature (damned summer cold) and had the most odd dreams
In one I had to go back to school as a sixth-former and had to wear full school uniform. When I arrived Humpty Dumpty was Pushed (old school qotwer for you young 'uns)was standing outside, he laughed at me but hugged me and told me I'd be alright.

Most odd.
What do you think it means?
And do you believe in dreams being a pathway to our subconscious desires and fears?

I like Terry Pratchett's theory that it's our brains filing our memories whilst we sleep
cranial admin if you will.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:16, Reply)
my daily activities have never included zombies
or being chased by monsters and I dream about that sort of thing frequently
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:19, Reply)
no but you've seen zombie films
hence, brain filing under "films I've seen"
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:20, Reply)
I don't dream about them when I've been watching the films though
I dream too much odd stuff for it to be filing.

far too often, for my liking. It's never hot chicks.

I wouldn't go to Wincanton if I were you Monty.
They love him there, walk about the streets in character, and genearlly twat around to his glory.

Fucking weird.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:56, Reply)
Fucking gay, more like.

(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:01, Reply)
I used to see a Pratchett looky-likey on the way to work each day
Same hat, style of dress, glasses, beard, the works. What was infuriating about him wasn't the resemblance but that he would walk down the street whilst reading from a small laptop. A Darwin award waiting to happen.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:05, Reply)
What. A. Spastic.

(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:07, Reply)
I just don't get Pratchett
Sorry folks, but I don't.
I tried reading some of his stuff years ago but it just didn't grab me.
I haven't read Lord of the Rings or Hitchhikers Guide.

Does this mean I have to leave the internet?
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:35, Reply)
Oh the shame!
You don't have to leave but you will be put on a list and have to go about introducing yourself to other internet denizens making them aware of your hideous crimes.

To be honest I haven't read Lord of the Rings either. Read most of Hitchhikers Guide but I found the quality dipped later on. Read some Pratchett years ago but am not compelled to read any more, but then I have the same experience with most writers, three or four books is usually my limit before their style starts to grate.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:57, Reply)
I think it means you need to wear a St Trinnian's style school uniform
Yeah.

Wet dream = not had sex or a wank recently enough

(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:28, Reply)
You know, that's never happened to me
Even when I was a teenager with a hair-trigger cock, I never woke up having 'emitted' during the night.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:30, Reply)
Me neither
Mind you, I wanked an awful lot.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:31, Reply)
There is that factor
If you've wanked yourself dry before falling asleep, then there's less chance of automatic jizzing during dormancy.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:33, Reply)
I'd always wake up just before I got to the good bit in the dream
thus saving me from cleaning up nocturnal emissions
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:33, Reply)
And allowing you to drink the tea your mum brought without it going cold.

(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:35, Reply)
I was lecturing on laser physics a while back
and had to explain the terms 'spontaneous emission' and 'stimulated emission', as encountered in that subject. It was on the tip of my tongue to say that they were analogous to a wet dream and a wank, but I thought I may have been disciplined had I said that!
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:37, Reply)
I wasn't having a wet dream though
And it certainly wasn't sexy - I just felt bewildered throughout. I couldn't understand why I had to go back to school and why I had to wear uniform - I was driving myself there too!

I've had erotic dreams and they're not full of schoolgirl clichés. Mind you, it's been so long since I've had that sort of dream I can't really remember what they do feature...probably the big bloke from 300 - but not in any other film, just 300.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:33, Reply)
I've had quite a few dreams where I've been back at school
And have always forgotten to do my maths homework. As I'm being berated by the teacher, I think "Hold on, I left school years ago!".
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:35, Reply)
Yep, that was what kept going through my mind!
Especially as the last job I finished a few weeks ago was teaching A levels....
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:36, Reply)
I have a recurring dream...
...that I'm sitting A Level English this very day and that I've not handed in any coursework or revised.

Strangely, I don't seem to feel at all odd about being 18 years older than the rest of my classmates.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:38, Reply)
I can never have sex in a dream.
Something always stops it from happening just at the point where me and my amore get together.

I could probably cope with not getting any IRL better if I could bloody dream some nookie.

And on the very rare occasions I start to get some snogging action, it's with fucking Eddie Murphy.

I don't ever remember my dreams and after conversations with fellow potheads they don't either. Any other stoners share this experience.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:39, Reply)
Wiggy doesn't remember his dreams
so maybe that's why
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:47, Reply)
I had a friend at school called Wiggy, I think he is some brilliant scientist now.
edit - such a pointless comment.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:50, Reply)
not the same Wiggy then
definitely not the same Wiggy.

balls
I remember mine all the time, and I smoke every day

they get weirder when I stop, but it doesn't make me remember them more
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:52, Reply)
actually jealous
It would be really nice to have a dream I remember. I remember the last dream I remember as well whcih was around christmas. Have just thought I might be in Inception territory!
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:57, Reply)
my dreams, despite mainly consisting of being chased by things
or searching for people in deserted places with a sense of dread, are thoroughly entertaining, and I wouldn't be happy if I stopped remembering them.

I also once dreamt a feature-length sequel to The Thing, which was excellent.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:00, Reply)
stop showing off you smug git!

(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 14:09, Reply)
I have dreams
They're just about other people, so I don't tell you :p
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 15:50, Reply)
I have no idea.
And if it does, god help me. I have had some pretty fucking weird dreams.

I don't ever try to interpret dreams. Unless something awesome is happening in them. Like I had a dream last week that I got to work and my boss said "we decided we're all going to kings dominion today!" and I was stupidly excited. So I told my boss and he said "haha yeah right" sad face.
(, Thu 29 Jul 2010, 13:40, Reply)
Yes.
Certainly. I dream about a girl I love pretty much every night. It's horrible.
