Newest little project!
Take one old church window with the center busted out, replace with a mirror, add some framing to the back, add lights and voila! Christmas is sorted!

Click for image, because it's too big for some, apparently.

What is?

Sorry.
Sticky enter key on an old laptop. The cat jumped on it and it hasn't been right since.

You alright?

Yeah, not bad, thanks.
It's been a good day in that I got some stuff accomplished. Might even have a job lead.

That's one of those things
that's always made me wonder. The Great Wall isn't really all that wide or tall- we have roadways bigger than that. Why do they always say that about the Great Wall when you can't see the NY Thruway?
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 21:45, Reply)
Apparently it's the dust surrounding it, not the wall itself, that is visible.
This is quite possibly complete testes.

Thanks!
I used to have a similar one in my house, but it belonged to someone else who took it with her. Took me most of the day to do, because the idiots at the store cut the mirror wrong, among other mishaps. (I tried cutting an old scrap of mirror myself, but apparently it's bastard stuff to cut. It ended up as scrap.)

Now I just need to decide who to give it to...
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 21:35, Reply)
Umm don't you have trees and stuff at Christmas, as opposed to having an illuminated door?

(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 21:35, Reply)
I have
a plastic tree as I don't believe in cutting down live ones for the sake of a week's decoration.

I revel in having nothing festive at all, coz that's how I roll

I got it from Black Market Minerals, if you've ever been to one of those stores. That was actually one of the milder looking masks!

hmmm....not really
we've got Mountain Mystic which is like the wiccan/stone/incense/book/witchy stuff

never really seen a load of masks like that
I did see a Venetian mask online once that just covered the eyes and was covered in music notes and it was gorgeous.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 21:47, Reply)
Black Market Minerals
is a chain that carries polished stone from around the world made into various things (or as it is), and things like drums and masks and rain sticks that look vaguely African. I go in there for slabs of stone to put into stained glass pieces, and that mask (and a few others) caught my eye. I have a couple on trees outside and a couple hanging in the house, along with my African tribal mask from Kenya and other strange carvings my grandparents brought back in the 1940s.

Oh, and the six foot Masai spear that Grandpa bought in the market over there.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 21:52, Reply)
Is this one of those magic eye things?
'cos I can't do it.

All I see is a broken stained glass window, some weird mask and a book case.

If I stare at it long enough, will I see the statue of liberty?

No...

Well i thought it would be nice for each child and grandchild to share one memory of him
if I agreed to deliver it, structure it, and do his life story.
So... 11 people possibly. Probably only 10. Our Little Tony doesn't speak.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 23:16, Reply)
Maybe for 'our tone'
You could let your Grand father speak (as it were)?

Did he ever say how proud he was of little Tone? What a belter he was or anything like that? Maybe your grand-father would like the last word?
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 23:18, Reply)
I have a story in reserve.
Our Little Tony used to fall asleep al the time, and have bizarre dreams. He was also terrified of the PG Tips chimps.
One night he tried to climb out of the window in his sleep screaming "The monkey's have got me grandad!!"
As in 'my grandad'.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 23:20, Reply)
Will you use the classic Liverpool gag
Of, 'our grandad is up there' (you look up) and then tell the congregation, 'no, not in heaven, he's nicking the lead off the roof!'

I can maybe guess - he does overdo the "I'm from Liverpool and so were the Beatles" thing.

But the boy can play.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 23:27, Reply)
Oh Liverpool's such a small social circle
I used to have to check if he was going to be there on nights out, then do a risk assessment. He can be a laugh though. Mostly a fake Macca overdoing it scouser who lives with his mum.

Dunno
but tonight in the hardware store I heard them playing David Gilmour's "On An Island" over the speakers, and I suddenly felt very old.

Technically very good
as are shitloads of session guitarists, though. I don't consider him to be an 'important' player in the history of the instrument, but my antipathy toward Morrissey has doubtless coloured my view. I loathe The Smiths.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 22:25, Reply)
Me too.
Sometimes I think I love you Monty.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 22:26, Reply)
Marr is personally important
Because hearing the first eight of "What Difference Does It Make" on a Peel session made a dull adolescent in a Northern one horse town understand that there was more to music than Bananarama.
(, Thu 18 Nov 2010, 22:32, Reply)
I think it is impossible to be passionate about the Smiths.
Even though, they should be right up your street you misery.

Okay. Question. Create two bands, one living, one dead out of any people who are, err, either living or dead.

Obviously, it would be useful if I knew who your band members were, but rather than me ask you to create a band of people I'd know, if you can post a YouTube link to their finest work as individuals, that'll be great.

One singer.
One bassist
2 guitarists (one one if that is easier)
Drummer.
