but I thought it was a decent enough interpretation. I own it. It's not on my List.

Nothing even mildly good about it, except for Dakota Fanning.

Didn't like the interpretation, or was it something aside from that?

And fucking everyone lived.

bombed out street, bodies everywhere and luckily their entire family survived by hiding in their house with all the lights on in the middle of the city after days of attempted extermination.
And I thought the tripods having shields was a lame cop-out.
Yeah, I see what you mean. Just makes it a Hollywood action film, though. Not anywhere near the same league as Lost Boys.

That's why I was so happy at the end of Saw, nearly everyone died! I've enjoyed several films where the main character has died, but it's not a happy ending e.g. Sin City, Watership Down, etc

there's nothing quite like treating your audience like children, is there?

Far better headfucks. Although I do want to watch 'The Orphanage'

That has nothing to do with perceived quality issues, I'm just a gigantic pussy.

Seriously unsettling films are some of my favourite to watch!(The Omen, The Shining, etc)
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:28, Reply)
I am too. I can just about stand Alien, but I flat out refuse to watch the Ring or any shit like that.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:28, Reply)
had to get me drunk before I'd agree to go watch Diary of the Dead. This is despite repeated assurances that it wasn't actually that scary and more of a comedy. 28 Weeks Later gave me fucking nightmares because I didn't finish the film and see them all die.
This is my biggest leak of man-points. I have to repeatedly top up the tank with sexist comments and loud conversations about cars.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:33, Reply)
That's pretty fucking brutal.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:39, Reply)
I am exactly the same - I won't watch scary films unless I have a pillow or preferably someone else to cower behind. I am a girl though...
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:44, Reply)
Have you seen 'Drag Me To Hell'?
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:46, Reply)
of 28 days/weeks later, one of the Alien films or a bit of Kubrick, if it's horror you can more or less guarantee I won't have seen it.

'i hate/fear horror films' is male apart from you, I think that means you're an honourary man, rather than them being girly
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:52, Reply)
I'd rather watch comedy. I'll watch horror only in the presence of a cute man to hide behind!
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:58, Reply)
I watched it too young, so I missed all of the underlying horror, and just laughed at the girl with the weird voice.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:54, Reply)
I love horror films but not the ones where the devil is involved like the Exorcist.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:45, Reply)
is the worst film i've ever seen, i think. that and star wars.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:14, Reply)
I put it to you Ms Blouse that you are biased in this matter
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:17, Reply)
is one of those cult films that you're supposed to like just because everybody says it's great. It's a stoner film with pretensions. Not a favourite, but not on the List.
Edit: Star Wars is not shit. Although George Lucas should have been placed under a gag order after 1983, admittedly.

I enjoyed all 6 films. However, I treat Films 1-3 as a completely different franchise, and nothing to do with 4-6. It's easier that way.

I only wish he'd stuck with models. All that CGI is already starting to look dated.

If you like a film then fine. Just like it for what it is, rather than for what everybody else tells you it is.

I want to see the film in which Natalie Portman plays a stripper. I like Natalie Portman.
(, Tue 23 Nov 2010, 13:39, Reply)
R-rated fantasy comedy coming out next year - she strips down to a thong in the trailer.

Makes me feel rather guilty, like the older ones do over Drew Barrymore.
