I'm not a football fan, I don't begrudge those who are, but I do enjoy to wind up those who take it too seriously. You know the type, the ones who talk for hours about football, spit bitter hatred at local rivals and believe it's a disgrace that we have to work when England are playing.
I tend to ask why they say "we" to refer to the team they support when they arn't on the team. This tend to cause alot off offence and "I AM on the team, I'm the support!" the best answer to this is: "If your on the team, howcome you have to pay?" This usually gets me told to shut up and I don't understand because I'm not a "real man".
Another great one is to wind some one up about local rivals. "Are they better then your team?"
"NO! They're fucking shit!"
"But they are above you in the league."
"We hammered them in (a year so long ago, most of they players have gone on to retire) and we are the better team!"
*confused face* "But wasn't the league set up to determine who was the best team? Surely league position is a more statistically valid indication of quality then performance in a single game."
"You don't understand because you don't like football!"
Always gets em. Always.

I tend to point out that the team peoples support is based usually on chance or whim. Many I know haven't even been to the home ground of the teams they "support".
So when they lose a soccerball match to an opposing team, I suddenly support that one, just long enough to tell them "we clobbered you last night".
I have been known to change my support three of four times a week, despite not ever having watched a whole game in my life.

I love how angry they get over it. It's not a big thing but people go mental over it.

However, not enough to really talk in depth about it.
I use the tit bits I pick up to go and speak to someone about football, and start an argument, then walk off during their rant, telling them I don't really care.
For example:
Me: Tottenham are going to have to sell their best players now they aren't in the Champions League.
Tottenham fan: No they aren't, they'll stay loyal
Me: I heard Bale and Van Der Vaart are leaving
TF: No, they'll stay because... blah blah blah
Me: Sorry, I don't really care.

You aren't much of a fan of the English language, either.

Hmm, I've read through and I'm struggling to see any major mistakes, which I suppose proves your point.

Although I did see us beat them in the Leyland DAF Trophy 20 years ago. I am untrollable on this subject.
The 'local rivalry' is now a bit sad and one-sided, with many fans of our supposed rivals actually unaware of it.

When you pick people up for saying 'we' won something, you are being not only pedantic, but also wrong.

Care to explain the difference?
Also, that is what makes it trolling.

Unfortunately this extends to the sports teams they feel they have to support and, sometimes, leads to violence.
People who actually like sport either play it or go to the local park and watch their mates play -- morons idolise other morons and fight about it.

And while your all here, why do people refer to the 66 would cup team as "we"? If you weren't alive at the time, you can't claim any glory.
