With regards to copyright, what are the issues surrounding classical music?
I know this is probably googleable, but I don't know where to start.

Alternatively, tell me about your morning.

Copyright expires 70 years after death
so a recording is copyrightable to the performers, but the piece itself isn't covered. Except for modern classics.
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:46, archived)
If I were to use a piece in a university project that's going to be displayed to the public,
would a simple "Hello, can I use this?" message to the performers be okay?
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:47, archived)
You'd need to ask the people who'll be displaying it.

(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:50, archived)
I shall do so.

(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 13:08, archived)
I don't think you need to pay a royalty to the composer
BUT the "mechanical copyright" will still exist for the actual recording so you'd need to ask the record compnay
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:51, archived)
Thanks.

it depends on how long the composer has been dead.
some of them are still alive.
so it depends.

You're alive!

I woke up late and went to school.
Taught one lesson then found out there was nothing left to do.
Then I went to the hospital to have a blood test because when I went to my GP for it they made seven holes across both arms but couldn't get any blood out. Then at the hospital they made a few more holes but were unsuccessful so tried to get it out of the back of my hand, which they managed after about twenty minutes of trying. I cried throughout and made a right scene.
Then I went to Wilko's and bought cleaning things.
Then I came home and had lunch.

I'm well exciting.

Back of the hand is the best way. It'll be black for a bit though.

I've nto seen the film.
I fancy the fictional book character though. In much the same way I fancy Harry Potter, Mr. Darcy and the character played by the bloke that played Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy in P.S. I Love You but don't fancy any of their film/TV representations.
(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:57, archived)
I'd not say no, put it that way.

(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:58, archived)
I'll lend you one.

(, Tue 9 Jun 2009, 12:58, archived)
The last time I had a cannula
they put in about half a litre of antihistamine and steroids in one go. That looked interesting in a "giant swollen vein" way.

i have just noticed that esme weatherwax has posted about double what anyone else has posted, according to the stats.
do they always post that much? because i can honestly say that i don't recall seeing anything they have posted.

I think it may be some kind of sinus infection, because I'm starting to get a pain in my ear now as well. I sneezed earlier on and was in agony.

Or that in some technical wording I'm not capable of.

However, it could be that some sadact knows more about this than I do.

70 years after the death of the composer
50 years after the recording was recorded.

Do you have specific recordings in mind? I'd say your best bet is to trawl through CD labels that release archive radio broadcasts, a lot of their releases were recorded in the 1950s. Try the Medici Arts and Testament CD labels, they remaster and release radio broadcast performances on CD.
