I know there's the 4rthur thing, but I'm wondering if you lot would like your own one?
Would you use it?
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:29, archived)

I think most people are happy to use the 4rthur one, even if they don't use the rest of 4rthur.
Having a B3ta one too would just mean you'd have to post all your events twice, and it would be more hassle.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:31, archived)

but there's a lot of people who use b3ta who don't use 4rthur
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:33, archived)

last time i went there it was just a load of abuse and single minded people trying to be funny
kinda put me off
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:36, archived)

without touching the main board.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:37, archived)

4rthur either...i can lurk but I wouldn't feel comfortable posting
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:39, archived)

But a lot of people feel that way, and it would be nice to not have to use their service on bended knee
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:43, archived)

b3ta is more random and sillier and not so up it's arse with non 'clique' members.
As I am not using it full time I can just pop in and out at random and annoy people.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:37, archived)

who are all perfectly nice people, and call for drinks on b3ta would get a different (with some obvious crossover) bunch of faces.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:37, archived)

it can only be a good thing really :) ...we might even and up with more of the going outness which is fab
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:40, archived)

But the nice thing about the 4rthur scheduler is that to sign up for a bash you have to be registered and therefore able to have 4rthur messages sent to you.
If you had a bunch of people signed up to your bash in the b3ta scheduler, you wouldn't necessarily have a way of contacting them all with details and soforth.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:42, archived)

I just think it would confuse things. There's nothing inconvenient about using the 4rthur one.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:47, archived)

especially if they only use B3ta :)
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:48, archived)

Most people who come to bashes are at least aware of 4rthur.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:50, archived)

People shouldnt have to be aware of them... and i suspect it would bring the talk board and main board together if we had our own pub thang
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:53, archived)

Would make it truly aces:)
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:57, archived)

I'm a member of 4rthur (i think) but never go there as I'm too lazy and uninterested.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:58, archived)

then it may also increase the rift between B3ta and 4rthur.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:58, archived)

Everyone flocked to 4rthur when B3ta spazzed up, and 4rthurians invade us when their board is spacking.
There's already far too much tribal conflict between us as it is.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:02, archived)

but i think B3ta's own scheduler would be a good idea or at the least a link to the 4rthur one so everyone can find it and stuff
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:56, archived)

If we had our own, people wouldn't have to be aware of 4rthur
I don't use 4rthur, I just can't be bothered to remember another set of log in details
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:56, archived)

I just can't be bothered with it
I don't need another message board, and going to another website is jsut extra hassle.
Having the only pub scheduler there excludes the many b3tans who either aren't aware of it, or just don't bother with 4rthur
Whether or not we 'need' our own is fairly immaterial, it'd just be better to have one. It'd include more people and be more convenient
My point is, why make do when we've been offered something else? We shoul at least give it a try, if it doesn't work, people wont use it
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:03, archived)

I just think it's a bit pointless, since there's a perfectly good 4rthur one already.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:07, archived)

It's like saying we could use...msn groups to organise them
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:09, archived)

There are so so many people on b3ta that you only talk to a small percentage, and having a b3ta scheduler would mean lots of people who you don't know signing up to bashes without knowing what they're doing.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:11, archived)

That if there was a B3ta schedular we would speask to more b3tans?And especially mix with more main boarders, i for one welcome mixing more...its an utter shame we dont more often
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:12, archived)

*gasp*
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:12, archived)

More people would come to bashes and you'd meet more people
That's bad how?
Anything that breaks down cliqueyness is good in my opinion. You could always organise private bashes if you wanted
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:12, archived)

People are great and the more the better
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:17, archived)

I like to know, or at least have heard of, most of the people I'm expecting to meet.
Sorry.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:20, archived)

I'd far more prefer a random tunin up and making the effort to meet new people...you simply never know who you will meet sometimes, and thats aces
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:21, archived)

but I'm an emotionally-scarred reclusive social reject who is frightened of people.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:23, archived)

But look at that, it's grown into it's own community, with differant people and tastes
The same thing could happen here
People are quite welcome to keep using the 4rthur one, but I think a b3tan one would serve a differant audience
Edit: and another thing, not everyone uses the same name on 4rthur and b3ta, a 'who's going' thing with everyone's b3tan names would be extremely useful to people who don't use 4rthur
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:08, archived)

So I'm absolutely gagging for one
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:14, archived)

In fact utterly true...but id hate to miss out on meeting other main board people:)
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:15, archived)

There are people who dont know or care about 4rthur...not that its a bad thing to make a foray into their territory, but it would be nice to have our own...
Even if some of us do straddle both boards
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:51, archived)

( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:49, archived)

would be difficult though
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:57, archived)

B3ta is so big that the site itself is quite impersonal, and I suspect that many people would be reluctant to give their details.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:00, archived)

only people that had said they want to go could see the details of others.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:04, archived)

I don't know - i'm just postulating ways round the problem.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:37, archived)

i.e. tick a box to say you're interested, the organiser writes an email, and b3ta emails it to the address you signed up with to all the people who ticked the box
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:18, archived)

after I posted the link you vanished.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:46, archived)

And ive done a couple or three... word of mouth is far more efficient
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:46, archived)

not meant to be rude, but your self promoting skills are strong
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:47, archived)

But to be honest we've had some successful bashes and i have only used 4rthur begrudgingly to post it once
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:49, archived)

Its stupidly stressful sometimes, but ultimately worth it
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:52, archived)

although we all have contact details in our profiles so i suppose it wouldn't be a big thing, but i agree that the messaging system is rather handy for aranging stuff :)
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:46, archived)

But i dont see it as essential...I dont think Rob or Cal or any other techy types should lose sleep over that
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:49, archived)

we're all capable of getting in touch with each other for more info on stuff :)
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:59, archived)

I might be able to make this one.
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:03, archived)

for communicating with people
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 18:34, archived)

I don't need questions or alternatives
...I like ultimatums :)
edit: ok, i've thought about it...yes, it would be grand idea
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:32, archived)

and find having one for the both places works well.
You could add a linky to it though, and maybe ask munkton to make it a little more neutral in design?
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:32, archived)

In fact i would donate more if we had one...
And maybe touch you
edit: i think it would be more conveniant for everyone, people tend to use the 4rthur one, but i suspect they would prefer their own one
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:40, archived)

going over to check on 4rthur means another board to look at when i don't want to
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:40, archived)

Thanks for thinking of us :)
/EDIT: SINCE WE'RE ON THE SUBJECT, IS THERE GOING TO BE A BRUM BASH ANYTIME?
( , Sun 31 Jul 2005, 17:45, archived)
