It's World Book Day.
Two boys in my son's class are Spiderman.

You know, from the famous Spiderman books.

Excellent, I must check social media to see what my acquaintance's son is.
First time I heard of world book day, it was because she'd dressed him up like Buzz Lightyear (from the Toy Story novels). The following year, he was Woody from the same novels.

Was when we had to take a book we were reading at home into school. I took Carrie.

Comics are literally books.
Looks like you're some kind of literature snob. I'd love to know exactly what books you own, I doubt it will take long for you to list them all.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2025, 15:35, archived)
I've got five hundred zillion books.

(, Thu 6 Mar 2025, 15:58, archived)
And none of them is illustrated?

(, Thu 6 Mar 2025, 16:52, archived)
Well there's a couple of manga titles by Junji Ito, now your mention it.
TBH I'd forgotten Spiderman started out as a comic character. All the same, I'd say there's a fair chance none of the kids in those costumes are aware of this, whereas at least some of the Gruffalos and Harry Potters and so on have presumably at least had those books read to them.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2025, 17:25, archived)
You'd be surprised.
A kid I know had an encyclopedic knowledge of Marvel Avengers and DC Justice League by the time he was 5. His mum got him the supermarket comics every week. Kids love trivia about themed costumed crime fighters. Also dinosaurs.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2025, 18:54, archived)
I dun got a copy of Gulliver's travels
and an English-Chinese dictionary used as official learning materials during the 80s in communist China

I have many more, but you wouldn't have heard of them, they're too esoteric for the likes of you.
