However, some shouting kids seemed to wake him up. You really don't want to mess around with these buggers, though. A chap once played a recording of one and one them ripped his face up.

To just think that one day, some kids wake me up shoutily and play a recording of me speaking to me is enough to justify ripping anyone's face up*.
*hasn't been sleeping much these past night because of kids having a party in the street

The poor bugger did lose an eye, though. I suggested to a couple of parents that it might not be prudent to let their kids play noisily underneath it for the above reason. Nowadays, I'd half-expect a punch in the chops for my troubles, but they were genuinely amazed by the owl. The ulterior motive was that I didn't want them scaring the bugger off...
