# Generally speaking, women don't react in
the same way as men.

# Please don't tar us all with the same brush,
some of us would still go to work if we had plague or malaria.

# some of us however
are looking for excuses to do nothing

# And who might you be referring too?
*innocent whistling*
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:11, archived)
# me, mainly
I can tell the difference, but flu is so much more dramatic, and garners more attention and time off. And is therefore exponentially better than a measly cold.

# I thought you
were referring to me!

# i'm sure you're prone to histrionics too

# i was amused after being in amsterdam
and seeing Dutchbird airlines.

# My airline is doing rather wlll for itself these days.
I'm off to Amsterdam for my birthday.

# it's full of whores
allegedly

# Seconded
The only time I've been off work recently, I got forced to go home by my colleagues due to me having to take regular throwing up breaks.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:07, archived)
# Same here.
I had a couple of days off the other week for the first time ever, because I was told I was probably infectious, and they didn't want to give the rest of my department an excuse to take a week off.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:08, archived)
# Yeah, but you spend quite a lot of your work day
on b3ta, I'll wager.

I shall edit accordingly - one moment... and done.

# But if you did have plague
I'd rather you stayed at home as I DON'T WANT IT.

Come round here, coughing and spluttering. What's the point?
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:09, archived)
# depends if you like your
cow orkers or not.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:11, archived)
# wise words
I'm staying at home in bed

# Dunno
if I'd go that far, but I haven't taken a (genuine) day off sick for more than two years.

# only for the sheer joy
of passing it on though!

# indeed
all these people haveing the flu and time off work, when in reality they are just wimps with a cold.

eat some dirt and build up your immune system.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:05, archived)
# Yeah I ate loads of dirt when I was young.

I still get hayfever though!
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:06, archived)
# I always used to think that hayfever sufferers were making it up and that it couldn't be as bad as they made out
Then, this summer I developed hayfever. I think it's some sort of divine retribution for all the years I've spent mocking the afflicted.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:09, archived)
# I agree,
all these sickly children these days have been bought up in too sterile an environment. Instead of giving out milk, primary schools should make them eat worms.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:08, archived)
# too right.
i ate worms when i was a sprog and it's done me little or no harm...
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:17, archived)
# I reckon the difference between colds and flu
is that flu is when you've not been at the office ten minutes and your boss hands you your coat and tells you he's going to drive you home, where you are to go to bed and not come in for the rest of the week.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:08, archived)
# Does that actually happen??!
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:11, archived)
# happened to me
I think it was the passing out that did it.
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:14, archived)
# Wow!
Now that's stylish - I'll have to try that one...
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:15, archived)
# hurrah!
you sound like my dad.

He is a pharmacist and always berates people who come into his shop and tell him they have flu. :)
(, Wed 1 Oct 2003, 10:12, archived)
# I had proper flu once
and thought I was going to die. I had to go to bed for a week.
