And sorry, but tj: I'm having troubles with my tablet, the lights are on and it all looks ok, but neither the mouse nor pen seem to be working, do any of you have any idea what it could be? Trip to staples for a refund?

but it could be an IRQ conflict. Try reinstalling the drivers, and if that doesn't work try looking online for a driver update. If that doesn't work, try removing your other peripherals, and restarting with just the tablet plugged in.
