Reposting in a reply is ok. Generally you should repost only if it is connected to the post you are replying to in some way.
See how I reposted my sock picture just here in reply to the sock picture above. This is good reposting in action people.

Edit: apparently you may repost in a new thread if the picture is for a challenge entry. However you can still submit a challenge entry as a reply to a post.

a.) If something is worth reposting, DON'T repost ina new thread
b.) If you want to repost it, pick a new post on the board which you can REPLY to with your picture, you will still get the opportunity to compo it when reposting it as a reply.

for example, there will be many more 'original' macca posts, so if you have a repost, why not wait until one comes along and put it as a reply to that, thus making the thread all about the same topic
