I am from Turkey, I don't know how to create animated gifs, I would like you to make funny animated gifs of Ataturk, I will then spread these in Turkey hopefully offending someone and thus start a war or something

but if for example I wanted to use a few seconds of a DVD for an animated gif, working with it in Photoshop, what software do I need to capture the sequence from the DVD source and convert to .gif format?

but something like bulent's screen recorder will capture the footage from the DVD window. And something like gif movie gear (or anything supporting avi) will let you make a gif from the clip.

could use all sorts of video or frame capture software to do this but the simplest way of capturing small amounts of video would be a screen capture program. I use Snagit 8 personally.

edit:/ plus DVD vob files are simply Mpeg layer 2 files so anything that edits mpeg files will do.
