I used to be completely phone-phobic. Now I can use the phone at work, but NEVER answer my home phone and very seldom my mobile.

I let the phone ring, go to answerphone, and then if it's an 'ok' caller, pick it up.
As I use the same number for home/office it can be a right pain having clients ring up at 9pm some nights

or from identified callers who I have blocked using the telephone preference service.
Many are construction industry local companies who see my name details on planning applcations and think they can just call me out of the blue touting for work etc.
hence it's just easier to get them to leave a message, or if a trusted calle,r pick it up if I recognise the voice..
I can generally get 2-3 *useless* calls a day like this
