Slightly worrying line in bold.
“NEW” MUSIC BUSINESS - OLD HAT FOR MARILLION!
In late 2007 Marillion announced to the fans that their (as yet unnamed) 15th studio album was available to buy – even though it would not be released until late 2008. To date 12,000 fans so far have each paid £30 for an album that is still being written! Yes you can do the maths – that’s an income of £360,000 so far, much more than any traditional record deal could ever expect to offer them.
Of course this is not the first time Marillion have done this.
Previous Marillion albums “Marbles” (2004) and “Anoraknophobia” (2001) were financed the same way, pioneering the direct-to-fanbase power of the internet, and freeing the band from the conventional music industry.
With this latest pre-sale album, Marillion have added extra incentives to encourage early ordering by entering fans who ordered within the first 6 months. In addition to each and every fan that ordered getting their name listed in the “thank you’s” of the album artwork, additional give-aways ranged from the standard fayre of tickets and back-stage passes for the 2008 tour to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being invited to the band’s recording studio to actually play on the new album. Other unique prizes included private gigs for fans, phone calls from the band, and all-expense-paid trips to their biennial convention in Holland.
Marillion are no strangers to harnessing the power of the Internet, with a pedigree of internet ‘firsts’ that are now employed by many others today. Back in the mid-90’s, Marillion were one of the first groups in the UK to set up a website (www.marillion.com) to communicate with and sell Marillion products to their fans – fans from as far and wide as Brazil to Japan and Australia to Iceland. They now have an active database of over 90,000 fans who regularly visit their website on a weekly basis.

I once found a copy of Razzle or somesuch on some spare ground. On the subscription page was a picture of Fish from Marillion reading said wank mag.
Fish's real name is Derek Dick. 100% FACT.

I didn't live here when evil_twin first moved in.
Apparently when she went to view the apartment, there was a video camera set up in the bedroom.
Also he was a Mormon.
And that concludes today's episode of Dick Nurse Facts.

Was it a prize for being the 34th person to buy an as-yet-unreleased album?

Or a promotion regarding the benefits of paying for something before it exists?
Also: I thought Marillion Monroe was dead, like a candle in the wind?
