I recently did an image for another board concerning a tournament for Team Fortress 2. I haven't received any criticism from it yet though. Would someone care to critique it?
Probably NSFW due to language, and it's a 1024x768 so it's somewhat big.

I like the composition. But I won't pretend to know anything about Team Fortress 2

Perhaps you should get off the notion that everyone from 4chan is horrible, and the assumption that I came from 4chan to begin with. I didn't, in fact.
I won't even normally post 4chan-meme related stuff, but I needed a bit of critique. That is all.

I wouldn't know a 4chan meme unless it slapped me in the face and someone said...
"OI BARBIE! You've just been slapped in the face by a 4chan meme, you muppet!!"

And we've been getting too many 4chan tools coming by here the last few months :(
Critique: err... not enough kittens for b3ta's preference. As to whether it appeals to TF2 folk... hard to say. There's no actual faggotry happening. It's a bunch of toons pasted onto some screenshots with some inner and outer glow blended onto them... It's not promoting a particular tourney because it has no event details... tbh I'm not sure why you've done it. That's a contructive criticism. To me a piece should have a purpose. A collage of clippings is not creative art and it's not a poster, so I'm not sure what you've created.
Anyway, good luck to you. Pull up a kitten next :)

It's showing on a link. Optimise down to 100k and save a copy to post on the board and then link to your mahoosive version with a little warning that it's over a meg.
Some people are on limited broadbands. I'm leeching the company internets so I'm laughing

In fact, I think he already might have done.
So, that's all good, then. Time for a nice cup of tea, I reckon.

I'd offer a reach-around, but you'll have to undo these handcuffs first.

First off the figures show significant aliasing around their borders, and the embossing filter is not necessary to imply depth as the figures are already three dimensional. If they need separating from the background then a drop shadow is a less intrusive way to do it. They could also stand to be a little further from the edges.
For the background the cropped images in four corners is fine, if a little busy, the centralised scene dropped on top makes it look a little confusing. It would be fairly simple to reduce the overall opacity of the background to make it compete less with the foreground text and images. Alternatively, using a single scene will increase the clarity.
Things like this tend to work better if they more accurately ape the original style of the release artwork. I would have set the text in the same way as the official TF2 title block (with fall-away depth blocks) to make the reference more direct, and to allow the text to sit in the centre of the layout. As it is, the text sits too close to the edge, and in parts it clips the figures.
Apart from that it is an OK cut and paste job.
