I'm not at all phased by MK. I quite like parts of it. My sister lives on the outskirts.

I realise I'm on shaky ground insulting anywhere when I'm from Bedford.

I spent most of Saturday putting up shelves and cupboards. They do look nice though.

(actually what I want to do is put shelves up one side of the wall, between the chimney breast and the other wall- www.nzhistory.net.nz/files/images/stories/gg/gg-003.jpg - that's pretty much my living room, you see the far corner? Shelves up that wall's what I'm hoping to do, I'm just a lazy arse)

just a few floating shelves would be nice and not a days work.
If I seriously have the time to pop over to you I'd be happy to.

I'm barely in these days, during the day though. How easy are floating shelves to put up?

run a batten around your 3 wall sides and one in front then you make your shelf that has a top, bottom and face and slide it over your batons then fix. It looks like a solid block of timber with no visible fixing or support.
If you want them totally floating ( not attached at the ends ) which looks a lot better then it is a similar process and easy to do.
