Everything they say is just to placate the voters.

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 14:49, archived)
# I will be voting.
Reluctantly.

It will make no difference, but I'm not throwing it away.

There is some small, not-yet-dead, romantic part of me that hopes.

# I hear you,
Although, the thought of 4 years of "Call me Dave" is enough to get me down the polling booth..

# I won't be voting for either Call Me Dave or Gordon Is A Moron.
But then ... who I do vote for won't stand a chance against the juggernaut tyrrany of the two big parties.

# Kind of self-defeating if you believe in the "Juggernaut of the 2 party State" theory
and say that you won't throw your vote away by not voting, yet you will waste it on a meaningless protest vote for a "no-hope of getting in" Party.

I will throw my vote away - I will only vote when there is something worth voting for and something you can believe and trust in.

Really we aren't going to change things until someone with enough authority decides to change things - such as the Union Leaders standing up and saying we won;t support New Labour any longer and set up a new party for the Working Class.

/soapbox packed away

# Well I do believe that if you don't vote, you didn't even try to change things
And therefore you can't complain when you don't like it.

The problem is that here in the West we're so warm, fat and comfortable that we don't really want to change anything that drastically. Of course we all enjoy a good moan, but that's all it is.

Maybe I'm just going to vote so that I can complain without feeling like a hippo.
