This partly panders to Americans' stereotypes, & partly resists them! (see link at bottom of results screen)
I took UK dental survey data for avg no. of teeth, fillings, etc and found a mildly unsettling way to let you compare your own. Had to double-check the maths when mine came back as only v slightly worse than average, must be a lot of toothless 50-somethings dragging the numbers down

I very rarely go to a dentist. I'm convinced most of what they do is unnecessary.

then by putting up with 'British' teeth it might be possible to save enough for a 6% downpayment on a $200k mortgage

and yes, it wouldn't work if you lived somewhere that had rocketing house prices or your wage and the dental care costs didn't keep reasonable pace with other prices

Housing costs usually rise faster than everything else.
Inexpensive means noone wants to live there, for good reason.

In my defence, meds cause bruxism so I grind my own teeth away.

but quitting smoking when I was 30 sorted out my gum problems. The only work needed since has been a result of troublesome wisdom teeth.

Too afraid of nerve damage to get it pulled.

one was at an angle that meant it was impossible to clean properly and I ended up having to lose a molar as well a few years later due to that decay. The dentist was an artist though and though it took a root canal, a crown and a filling below the gumline that molar lasted ten years before having to be taken out. He was the best dentist I've ever had, fair play.

The top one on that side cracked in half years ago so that came out without too much bother. I worry there might not be enough left of the bottom one to grab.
But this is all academic since even private dentists seem to be thin on the ground.

For the third one, I went to the Dental School, cos it was free. After a half hour battle the student had to give up and the professor took over. Another ten minutes later, and with the aid of his knee on my chest, it was out! I never went back.
I hope that has put your mind at rest.

I had the bad nerve damage and recovered over three months.

Odd, 'cos my incisors are more irregular than The Needles due to a couple of face-plants over the years.
I don't go to the dentist: Haven't you ever noticed that only people who go to the dentist have expensive problems with their gobs? Also, more often than not, the issues seem to arise from the last idiot they let fuck about with their teeth.
