Snyder, for his faults, always struck me as a really talented stylist; in similar vein to Ridley Scott and David Fincher.
Here's hoping Nolan has reigned him in with a decent, weighty script.
His visuals are always lovely to behold, even if they story they're telling isn't all that.

Agreed. He's one of those filmmaker's that isn't a natural storyteller, basically.
He's a pure stylist. But when you give that kind of filmmaker a banging script the result should be aces.

As you say, with Nolan's involvement, (and Goyer's script), this could be a perfect union.

I already love it.
I love Christopher Nolan's re-imaginings of the superheroes. He should be the only one allowed to make super hero films from now on.

No love for Joss Whedon or Jon Favreau?
Sadtimes.

They're both good...
but only Nolan has thus far injected a level of substance which for me lifts his films to genuine higher levels. Love them or hate them, there are some really big ideas going on beneath the flashy exterior of his Batman films which are just absent from films like The Avengers. Meditations on power, money, class... it's mouthwatering stuff that doesn't detract from the films as a spectacle. A real testament to his abilities.
Nolan always struck me as an incredibly well read and informed filmmaker and I think, for that reason, his films achieve greater depth and certainly stayed in my mind longer than anything Whedon or Favreau have done. The Marvel canon is really about surfaces. Of course some people do prefer things simpler with stuff like this and that's fair enough.

Michael Shannon was a great choice.
'Take Shelter' is one of my favourite films of 2012, and that's largely down to him.

by the sounds of it you were misled by reviews/expected it to be something else
what do you consider a good film?
(HappyToastGroat froth, Tue 11 Dec 2012, 19:31,

It's a matter of personal taste, completely pointless even discussing it.
Some people would have liked it, i didn't, those very same people may have hated something i liked, that's the way it goes, no right or wrong when it comes to taste in films/music etc.

i was in Australia once
after Reeves terrible accident. He was visiting - raising money for his charity or whatever (which I thought was very good).
They had an ad on the radio voiced by an insane aussie yelling 'get yerself down to st vinnie de Pauls and meet SUPERMAN CHRISTPHER RREEEEEEEEEEEEEEVES!'
Found it amusing at the timeyouhadtobethereetc
