Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

You English types. Don't know your Rs from your elbow.
(AND DRAW DOES NOT = DRAWER. I see that all the time on here and want to smite people.)

I sell furniture and deal with this particular error on a daily basis.
It makes me 'loose' my temper.

But the thing is
As my friend keeps pointing out when he says "Ford Ka" to rhyme with "car", since it sounds exactly the same so people think he means just any type of Ford car.

A mate of mine

Shit cars anyway.

Ford Kas
are common anyway. It is meant to be pronounced 'car'. The reason it was spelt 'Ka' was so they would not be prosecuted under the trade descripion act. It's not a car it's a fucking motorised rollerskate with a big arse.

As a happy little Ka driver
It's a 'Ka' to rhyme with 'car' up until you have to talk to mechanics and the like.
"What sort of car is it?"
"It's a Ford Ka."
"Yes, mate, but what sort of Ford?"
"It's a kay eh."
"Oh, a Ka."
Every time.
