Caption Thingy

Spent waaaay too long making this site but it's nearly done. The technical bits work (at least in Firefox. IE shits a brick trying to handle png files).

Basically, it's a caption site where you can load your own images and add speech bubbles to them. Should be ready for people to play with in about 24 hours or so. Have to add some CSS to make it look presentable, fix the IE bugs with PNGs, add more types of speech and thought bubbles and add a gallery.

I also need to add in the Flickr API so people can save their images to Flickr.

But here's one I made earlier..

Cheers

Good morning!
Did the Loon make it to England ok?

I'm going on vacation for a week tomorrow, I'm super excited.
No phone, no internet. Just beautiful scenery, a wonderful man and lots and lots of fishing.

This is where I'm going:

I love it up there.

A true story
of what happened to me in the early hours of this morning.

Story in reply, according to OT etiquette.

It's Saturday, but I'm going to set this thread up anyway.

Are you at work? Or are you all acidic and hungover? Still in your pj's? Did you have a strange dream in which one of your toenails had fallen off? Or have you woken up in a strange bed? Do you wish it was still 1998 so you could watch SM:TV and drool over Cat Deeley of a Saturday morning?

Never mind. This thread's here instead.

I have a serious question
And I would like an honest reply.

Do you think it's possible to love someone too much? Like, love them so much you just want to squeeze the life right out of them, gut and fillet their lifeless corpse, and make an improptu hat out of their skull. I mean, is that so wrong?

More wine please.....
I've just arrived home from taking my daughters out to our favorite Itallian restaurant. As usual, the service was fantastic and the food sublime. But that isn't the funny part of the story.

As we sat down, a discussion began concerning what new dishes we'd like to try or if we should go with old favorites. This is when my youngest opened her menu, pointed to a bottle of wine and announced, "I want some wine for dinner."

Now, we don't really have anyone in our family who is a wine drinker so I'm still not sure where she even learned about wine much less what the bottles look like.

After I stopped laughing, I told my dear daughter, "Sweetie, I know you are 6 years old now, but that is still a bit too young for drinking wine with your dinner."

She then became a bit adamant, "Oh, I don't want anything to eat. I just want the wine."

I had to again tell her no.

Then she came out with, "Well can I just try it to see what it tastes like?" I told her that once she turns 21 she can have all the wine she wants. She wailed, "But I'll be almost an adult by then!"

My response was not in favor of her desires.

Then the waiter arrived for the drinks order. Mandy sat up straight, looked at him with the most serious and grown-up expression she could manage, used the loudest vioce she could muster, and said, "I'd like a bottle of wine please."

People at tables as far away as across the room burst out in laughter.

I don't even drink FFS!

Edit: As I typed, I realized that it has a food link so I could use this story for the QOTW. I'm still leaving it here though for all of my special OT friends)

We've got the B3ta book of sick jokes
I for one would be willing to pay good reasonable money for a collection of the best QOTW answers. I could give copies to friends that I really think would appreciate the frequent allusions to length quality of writing and witty anecdotes.

How 'bout it, Rob?

IE/FF help please
There's an interactive site that I want to look at that refuses to work in FF3 and will only open in IE once I've installed the macromedia plugin and activX control.

Is there a way of getting it to work in FF3 as I really don't like using IE if I don't have to.

I tried manual plug in and it thought about it and said no.

Edit: Another reason to hate vista, this site worked on the work computers and wont work on my laptop. FFS.
Please and thanks

Random Filmy Question
Just came to me today how cool it would be if Mars Attacks! had been directed by David Lynch instead of Tim Burton.

If you could take a film and have it remade by any other director, what film and what director? And maybe even why?

Go!

Cute fuffyness!
We've just moved into our apartment in Pune, India... and guess who we found waiting for us on our doorstep? This little guy:

He's somehow managed to get lost from his mom, we estimate he's only 3-4 weeks old. If anyone can identify the species or let us know what's best to feed him we'd be grateful.

He's eaten a lot of scrambled egg (thanks RSPCA website) and seems to like that.

And finally: Awwwww cuteness!

I need to finish building some drawers in the hope that Mrs Spikeypickle buys me the new Star Wars game. Note the word HOPE - she said she will but I didn't get anything in writing.

I hoping that tomorrow I will be putting stuff in new drawers and playing Star Wars. i will then be getting drunk as we have a babysitter for the night :0)

Mini question of the day

Food sabotage is boring, therefore here is mini question to keep all you work shy OTers busy.

What was your favourite mix tape?

Scarred for life, tell me how your parents/siblings/friends scarred you mentally or physically for life when you were but wee.

My brother and I decided to "sledge" down the stairs in a cardboard box. I was first (and last) my brother gave me a push, the box tipped forward and the leading edge hit the first step sending my little craft into a roll that was only stopped at the bottem of the stairs by a wall and my head.

There is a small patch on the back of my head where no hair will grow, ever.

bastard.

Right then
On the 1st October I am having a game of conkers with a co-worker. As it's taking place at work and during the lunch hour, there may be an audience and so the chances of never-ending glory and unending shame run high.

Help me B3tans, help me cheat like a bastard. I want hardening techniques, tips for spotting a good conker and anything else you can think of to help secure me victory.

To the victor go the spoils. There may be maidens. I may share.

Cocking bollocks.
They won't accept my UK education, and will therefore have to go through 2 years of junior college, then a 4 year degree in law, followed by 2 years of specialized law school.
Fucking fuck!

However, they will accept me as an English Lit. or History major for a 4 year degree, which I might just do.

This made me giggle
.
Logging on to check my mail, the Yahoo home page has the headline "Black hole machine on blink" followed by "The Large Hadron Collider, the machine designed to unlock the secrets of the universe, has been shut down after only a week". Apparently the shutdown is the result of an electrical fault.

The bit that made me giggle is the sub-heading "Find an electrician in your local area".

I now have a mental picture of the CERN scientists all standing around, watching a man in badly fitting jeans displaying his "cleavage" whilst rooting around in a tool box. He will no doubt do a bit of tooth sucking before declaring that, "It'll all have to be redone, guv'nor. Gonna cost you, to be honest. Take a bit of time, as well."

Ah, the fun you can have when you're easily amused ...
