Generic generic evening thread, anyone?
q: something about your tea/dinner
alt q: something about your evening/weekend plans
alt alt q: favourite planet that isn't Earth
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:00, 130 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
It's 6am here.
planning on calling the posties and trying to chase down my package, and maybe reading a bit of one of my textbooks for uni, and my favourite planet is Neptune.

How're you?
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:03, Reply)
Hi poppet.
How was seeing your family again?
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:04, Reply)
good initially, but it's back to the way it always is now,
parents keep getting at each other and then bringing me into it, and I hate it.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:06, Reply)
Pfft! my mum and step-dad do that all the time.
It drives me mental.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:07, Reply)
yeah, just gotta hang in there til the 27th, then I'll be okay.

I'm dieting.
Found out today that my sister who has my build but doesn't exercise or eat healthy and has boobs about 3 cup sizes bigger than mine is only 11 pound heavier than me.

muscle weighs more than fat innit
thats my story and im fucking sticking to it
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:15, Reply)
That's true to some extent.

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:16, Reply)
Okay.
I won't mention anything about it.

Haven't had my dinner yet
because I am making cake. And lemon curd. These are for my sister, who I'm going to see over the weekend.

Pizza.
One chicken tikka, one bolognaise.

Going out to see a mate's band tonight, and it's also the drummer's birthday. Really can't be arsed though as (a) I'm utterly knackered, and (b) it's blowing a gale and pissing down out there.

Gallifrey.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:08, Reply)
Bolognaise pizza?
How does that work?
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:08, Reply)
You get a pizza base
and put bolognaise on it. It's bloody lovely, but the bol has to be quite dry so it doesn't just slop off.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:13, Reply)
I make Quornbol 'pizza' when I'm on a diet

Going to a friends in a bit to lend her a dress. Maybe have a few drinks and watch Gypsy Wedding.

The move sounds positive.
You've not been completely happy where you're living for a while have you?
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:24, Reply)
no I'm not
and it's less of a hassle to just get it over with and get out than to wait it out and see what will develop
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:28, Reply)
Does your friend live quite close to where you are now?

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:29, Reply)
relatively, she lives in town, I live just outside of town
I'm reluctant to move in with her because she has a seven year old daughter, who's a total brat, has kicking screaming all out fits. But I need a place to go and I can't get a place on my own.
She's offered the place to me a couple of times and I think it's more of her needing money than out of the goodness of her heart. But it's a place to go that I can afford so I'll have to do what I have to do.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:33, Reply)
Would staying with your parents be an option?

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:34, Reply)
I don't know. My dad would be unhappy because of the dog. My mom would be ecstatic because of the dog.
Either way I'd have to do a massive overhaul of the damp nasty basement to make it liveable.
And I'd be losing a lot of freedom.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:40, Reply)
Doesn't sound like the dream ticket then.
But living with a 7 year old.... That might be fraught with problems too.

Are there any other house-share options in your area?
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:42, Reply)
not really
most of them don't allow dogs and the ones that do want $600 a month which is fucking absurd because you can rent a two bedroom house for that much.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:45, Reply)
Could you rent a two bed house
And then sub-let the spare room? Based on that, you'd be calling the shots and could have the house as dog friendly as you want.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:49, Reply)
can't get a place on my own
I technically am unemployed
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:52, Reply)
Can you get housing benefit (or whatever the Americans call it)?

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:54, Reply)
Even though I legally can't get a place on my own, I'd rather live with a friend if I can afford it than to live off benefits when I don't need them.

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:58, Reply)
I am having pizza and regret.

I certainly have yellow hair
I will not admit to being blonde, though
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 19:57, Reply)
That is odd.
I would have thought it would work better with 'yellow' hair.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:00, Reply)
i used to dye streaks of different colours in my hair as a student
red goes pink, purple goes grey. I had a blue that worked quite well once.

My real hair is that colour which only 3 year olds have, only I'm 34
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:02, Reply)
What about dyeing it ash blonde then dyeing the red on top of that?

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:05, Reply)
Having googled ash blonde
I think that's probably the colour it is already.

One day I'll get someone to properly put red streaks in it
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:06, Reply)
You have strange hair.

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:11, Reply)
yes

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:13, Reply)
Mine is similar
I tried to dye it red, it went orange. I tried to dye it several shades of blonde, it went orange. Tried to dye it back to brown, it went purple. When I tried to dye it purple it went sort of magenta. I go to a salon now if I want it done...

EDIT - this was over a period of about six months, I might add, I had quite short hair at the time, which I eventually dyed black to get rid of all the orange.
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:19, Reply)
Haha!

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:19, Reply)
5 colours in your hair?

(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:20, Reply)
one of my students
had her fringe dyed about 5 colours, I was meant to be telling her off but I was just too jealous of it
(, Thu 3 Feb 2011, 20:21, Reply)
I just dyed mine stupid colours throughout my teens

I think I'm naturally dark brown, I needs the chemicals. I'd like to go a brighter red, but I have a bad reaction when I bleach my hair.

Just had seconds of my turkey chili, really lovely

I'd not add any water next time (I didn't add much) and maybe less chopped tomatoes, as in the end it was quite liquid. But since I was eating it with tiger rolls that worked okay.

It was just the right heat, tingly without being painful, and super-tasty. Definitely freezing a few portions!

Chili for breakfast is a new idea
but we order in breakfast sandwiches at work on a Friday, I wouldn't want to spoil my appetite.

Given I'm eating out tomorrow night and probably Saturday, this was probably not a great day to make a giant pot of chili.
