(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 16:43, 125 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
Yeah I am thanks Gonz
Just got back from having a swift pint of sneck lifter with the family (baby sleeping, strapped to my chest; eldest bribed with crisps).
Are you?
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 17:04, Reply)
I'm good thanks, had the telly off and listening to music really lowdly (Chase and Status) while doing some bitch-ass coding.

(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 17:11, Reply)
What's a Sneck Lifter ?

I'm cooking my baked pancakes recipy from the other day tonight, I'll make enough to take into work tomo too.

I'm thinking of modfying my tatto, I have a swirly bit at the bottom that I want to have another one on the top 'cus it looks good with my watch partially covering it up.

I too am cooking.
Salmon (for the mrs), Quorn Cornish Pasty* (for me), with new potatoes, broccoli, carrots and leeks

*Can't help thinking they've missed a trick not calling these Quornish Pasties.
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 17:33, Reply)
Oh man, how you doing the salmon? I'm totally digging the idea of a Salmon and new potato dinner at the moment...
... I like to do that but I season-flour the salmon and shallow-fry. Then serve with sweet-chili mixed with mayo. Oh dude, that is _exactly_ what I want for dinner this week at some point. I can totally make my awesome potato salad the next day too. GOOD THINKING MAN.

Are you a vegeterian? I've never tried Quorn before, but I like the idea of having a low-fat alternative to meat. I might give it a shot this week.
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 17:42, Reply)
Keeping the salmon simple
A drizzle of olive oil and a grind of salt and pepper and baked for 20 mins.
EDIT: and a clove of garlic in with it.

I am vegetarian. Quorn is not that exciting, but it can be flavoured to resemble something and I need protein in my meal.
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 17:46, Reply)
I like that you cook meat even though you don't eat it yourself. Do you just chop the garlic up and put it over it?
I quite like Tofu when it gets crispy.
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:13, Reply)
Usually I'd chop it and put it over it
But my wife is breast-feeding a very colicky baby and the advice is to avoid foods that might cause wind, so I just added it to the pan, to give a bit of flavour.

I really wish I could enjoy beer, but I just don't. It seems like there are many wonderful flavours and types, I just don't like it though. Ditto for wine.

(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:14, Reply)
I'm the same with wine
I quite like it, but that is the extent of my opinion of it.
Beer I can really get into all the different flavours
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:32, Reply)
The ancient skills of keeping beer in the right conditions and realising it has a limited shelf life seem to be dying out in pubs.
Stella is the only widely-stocked beer I like that can't easily be fucked up and turned into acid.

It looks really good, are you going to do it all up once, or over stages?

(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:36, Reply)
stages
all at once would take forever. Starting with the lounge and bedroom then see how that goes. Did you see the ones of inside the shed? That's the best bit
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:37, Reply)
Yup ! Looks good, are you doing it or are you getting someone in? What's the plan for the shed?
You should totally do a feature wall.
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:46, Reply)
doing it all myself
The lounge is having a red bit round the crappy fireplace, so it's kinda like a feature wall. I'll put some art their, too, but all I have that will fit is something I made, so that might eb a bit narcissistic.

Shed I can use as a workshop, but the wood is rotting a bit round the bottom so I may have to fix it first
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 18:49, Reply)
Oh cool, what about the floors? can you do all that?

(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 19:20, Reply)
I'll clean the carpetes downstairs (that's all they really need)
then I guess I'll have to pay some dude to put some nice carpet in the bedroom and replace the carpet in the darkroom with lino. Keeping that crazy red carpet in the spare room, though
(, Sun 22 Jan 2012, 19:41, Reply)
You're definitely going with the orange then?

i doubt this is interesting to anyone else
My house has a story with it. The previous owner's family left me a 'good luck in your new home' card in which they told me the house had been in the family since 1937 when it was built. Today i found another clue about the guy who was in it last (something written on a piece of card, possibly for a carer). He was born in Poland and came here in 1945 and must have married into the family.

Well, I thought it was interesting, anyway

Evening.
I have cooked, eaten and drank too much. A friend came over for lunch today and I did:

Starter: Smoked salmon, leaves etc. (lazy cooking except I made lemon butter & homemade bread to accompany it).
Main: Slow roasted lamb shank with puree potato, ratatouille and a red wine, rosemary and smoked garlic reduction.
Pudding: Cheese (again; lazy cooking). Comte, Gorgonzola & Camembert.

Accompanied with a 1996 Pol Roger champagne and some excellent Rioja.

Tomorrow I am attending an infant first aid course. Important but very dull.
