Techy types - a question about gaming.
Is your "average" computer capable of running high-end MMORPGs? Or do you actually *need* to pay the ridiculous prices they're asking for "gaming PCs?" I can get a 4gb Core i5 for around £350 but "gaming PCs" seem to start around £650.

An MMORPG is generally designed to run on most PCs with a decent graphics card. My card is a £60 card and plays most games on high. If you buy a £200 base machine and chuck in a £100 graphics card it will play MMOs just fine, even high end ones like SWTOR and Guild Wars II. However if you play MMO's you are a massive gay and should kill yourself

What I've never understood,
is that consoles are really really low end computers on the scale of things, So why can't your average PC, even low end, which has at _least_ similar or higher spec (c'mon, the 360 is like 6 years old now and wasn't high-spec at the time.... can't even run average looking games.

There are loads of iOS games that look fucking stunning for a mobile phone, more stunning even than the Vita. Shouldn't be that hard to do that on computers.

iirc gaming processing isn't quite the same as "normal " everyday processing, so consoles and expensive graphics cards are optimised for gaming, and an everyday PC is not (so much).
Apparently a cheap PC with an expensive graphics card in will piss on an expensive one with cheap graphics, but may be less good at other stuff.
