reactions are important, but to dismiss a whole area/movement/era of art is still close minded. I don't demand everyone should like every piece, but it's the same as saying 'I hate all rock music and therefore it shouldn't exit' and then refusing to even listen to any of it

but not all of it is. That's kinda my point. Just the same with figurative art, I'm sure there were many terrible wanky painters in renaissance Italy, convincing people their art was good when it was terrible arsewankery.

A lot of conceptual art needs a bit more time and attention to appreciate, some is worth it, some isn't. Mostly, though, peoples' descriptions of it and photographs of it is not as useful as going there and seeing it.
