That was a shit thread.
So who's excited about the new Star Wars, JJ Abrams is directing it, how cool is that??? Pretty cool, I'm sure you'll agree.

I'm in london this weekend. What should I do?
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:26, 168 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Sadly, I am quite looking forward to it now
In London you should eat vast amounts of curry, drink lots and fart.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:27, Reply)
I think the plan is to go for a curry at needos on saturday afternoon.

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:30, Reply)
Then it is a good plan

*music plays, parcel gets passed around*
*music stops, Kroney has the parcel*
Nakers: oooh, what's inside?
*Kroney opens the parcel. It's a network cable*
Nakers: Look what you've won! Plug it in for me? :(

I wish I hadn't missed the tech thread.
I need some tech advice about high-end gaming.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:37, Reply)
here's some advice
GET A LIFE AND DON'T DO IT
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:38, Reply)
Yeah, I think I'd prefer my advice from someone who can tell the difference between a male and a female interface...

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:41, Reply)
I can, one has a willy and the other has a vadge

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:41, Reply)
Hello!

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:41, Reply)
I set up a VM on my PC so I could download games with impunity.
Turns out VM has no graphics capability, the fucking shitcunt.
How can I play 3D rendered games?

And just for Nakers: If I have a red 9, can I put the black 8 on top of it?
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:44, Reply)
What games are you downloading?

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:45, Reply)
Sims 2
Got them all downloaded asnd installed over the weekend, blissfully unaware of the fact that it was an excercise in futility.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:46, Reply)
is this so you can pretend to have been outside?

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:48, Reply)
I want to create little /off topic characters
and act out my slash fiction fantasies with them.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:51, Reply)
No idea, to be honest I'd download steam and pay for sims 2, it'll be like £3-£5

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:50, Reply)
I already have steam downloaded, they only have Sims 3 as far as I can see.
£30 a pop for each expansion. Fuck that.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:51, Reply)
Well just get a better game. Orcs must die 2, is on there for £3
New tomb rader £3.50. The sims is seriously shit by the way.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:54, Reply)
Yeah, well, so's your face.
I like Sims. It's like playing with dollshouses, but for grownups.

Well, okay, not for grownups, but you're not the boss of me!
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:55, Reply)
Also, why don't you just play it outside the VM?
I don't see how having is a vm is going to change anything. If they're tracking the torrent you got it on, they've already got your IP address.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:56, Reply)
To keep games and porn apart

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:58, Reply)
I was more worried about trojans, to be honest.
I figured if anything infects the VM, it won't touch my actual computer.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:59, Reply)
It will, across the PClacena

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 14:00, Reply)
That was very nearly clever

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 14:02, Reply)

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:56, Reply)
You're such and IDIOT
everyone knows Vm don't do graphics, nguuuuurgh
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:45, Reply)
BUT WHAT ABOUT MY EIGHT OF CLUBS??????

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:47, Reply)
i dunno, what game are you playing?

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:49, Reply)
Fuck's sake, Nakers.
hahahahaha, that was totally an /ac
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:49, Reply)
:(
what's /ac?
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:53, Reply)
Have you installed the VMware tools?
This improves graphic performance a lot. You could then also enable RDP/Remote Desktop and connect via this at Full Colour.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:56, Reply)
I installed VMWare Player
but I can't see it in the Program Files list, and it doesn't make any change to the graphics card in the dxdiag list.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 14:00, Reply)
I do it AND I have a life outside it.
I'm well greedy, me.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:41, Reply)

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:29, Reply)
Super 8, one of the mission impossibles, and the star trek reboots.

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:30, Reply)

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:31, Reply)
And cloverfield.

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:31, Reply)
Cloverfield was excellent.
I quite liked Super 8 as well.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:32, Reply)
I liked cloverfield because all the annoying characters were dead at the end

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:33, Reply)
The big joy with JJ Abrams films is the hidden bits and pieces.
There are squillions of self-referential things that you don't pick up on the first viewing. Cloverfield is full of them.
And in Lost, almost every flashback scene has some kind of reference to the six numbers, or another character, or something about the island.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:36, Reply)
that's what I want from what I watch
A complete lack of plot, shit unlikeable charcters and plenty of unconnected shit in the background
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:37, Reply)
You can equate with the people who study literature in depth.
At first read, it's a story - good, bad or indifferent.
To an English Lit graduate, it's an insightful allegory with hidden motifs and repeating themes.

You get what you want out of entertainment.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:39, Reply)
I want tv and films that grab me by the throat, punch me in the face and shit down my throat
That's why I really loved Kindergarten Cop
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:41, Reply)
I love that bit where Arnie says "Who is your daddy and what is his job"

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:44, Reply)
and one girl goes 'my daddy stares at vaginas all day long'
Nice one

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:32, Reply)
Star Trek reboot was boss.
Excellent casting
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 14:11, Reply)
Lost was his big thing

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:30, Reply)
oh that shit can fuck right off

(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:31, Reply)
Yeah, the problem with Lost
seems to be that JJ Abrams didn't know how it was supposed to end, so he made up some shite that didn't explain anything.
Fucking rip off.
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:34, Reply)
it never had any point or direction
It was any old random pile of shit every week for as long as boxset loving dicks were prepared to swallow it
(, Mon 28 Jan 2013, 13:35, Reply)

You should hire a hooker at Kings Cross and make her do star jumps.

He's a good writer
I always find geeky films are best when done by geeks!

Joss Whedon's Avengers could have been a complete mess but was very well written.

I like having a wander about London. Go from Green Park, past the palace, down the river, past parliament. Obviously going into pubs on the way
