As a London Underground user
I imagine I have a skewed view of striking, but my general feeling is that it's blackmail by greedy and self-serving peasants. I'm of the 'if you don't like it you can always leave, you know - someone else would love your job that you can't stop whining about' school of thought. The only other striking I know anything about is the fucking French and those knobbish miners who REALLY STUCK IT TO THE MAN by refusing to work in those coal mines which had no coal in, that were about to close. YEAHHHH NICE ONE.

There's still millions of tonnes of coal available under the UK.

True or not, striking against closure of your workplace seems to me to be monumentally retarded.

I wonder how many of them came back to t'pit
to find some enterprising person had nipped around behind them, changed the locks and put a "CLOSED" sign up.

You see what happens is that when they go on strike, the redundant pits miraculously fill up with coal.
It's amazing really when you think about it.

Except their resolution to strike was in the event that mines were being closed for reasons other than them having run out of coal.
If striking is the only weapon you have, then of course you are going to use it.

Tube driving is well difficult, though.
They've got to do all that sitting down in a nice warm cabin driving trains. All men hate driving trains, that's a fact. Nobody grows up wanting to be a train driver.
OK, so occasionally they run jumpers over, but they get counselling for it, the wankers.

The one good thing I can see is that the fucking Luddite pricks
will strike once the automated trains start running, helpfully taking the manned trains off the rail and thereby speeding up the process.
I'm pretty sure I understand how this will work, here.

You know what, I don't know where I heard that, I might have just made it up, because I did, but I might not have, even though I did....
... but I think you're onto something when you say Bob Crow murdered a Black-Cab driver because the driver didn't let bob crow in the back of his cab with an extra saucey donnor.

That was during the miners strike, a cabbie was killed taking a miner who refused to strike to work.

Oh no, this is an entirely seporate incident that I'm making up on the spot that might have actually happened.
Bob Crow was in Faces in Gant's Hill, and took a load of cocaine. He then walked across the road to the kabab resturant and ordered a "Faaakin' Donnor, mustifa, don't be cheap on the sauce, I'm onto you, when the fuck did you come to this country anyway? MOAR SAUCE" until he walked out with his pita-bread and sauce with a bit of chicken donnor in (don't trust that 'muzzie elephant leg', his words, not mine, if I wasn't making this up).
He then tried to get a black cab, pulled one over, "Sorry mate, I know you are Bob Crow, but you will have to finish your kabab first", so bob crow pulled out a hammer and smashed the side window in, pulled the cab driver out via the window, and made him "bite the curb".
I'm sure that might have happened, sounds plausable.

(
Kroney, Mon 18 Feb 2013, 11:14,

the only reason Bob Crow can get strikes is because the workers are pissed off with the managment.
If the managment didn't piss off the workers so much then he'd never get a strike vote passed.
(
PsychoChomp, Mon 18 Feb 2013, 11:16,

They aren't remotely pissed off - they see an excuse to blackmail more money and cushier shifts so they grab it with both hands.
Those cunts aren't exactly wronged semi-slave labour Victorian mill workers.

I bet you at least 8 out of 10 people here are "pissed off with management", and most of them don't get half the wage or have twice a cushty job.
(
G/PP 💩💩💩💩💩€, Mon 18 Feb 2013, 11:20,

All I'm saying is that the two sides can't make a decent agreement between them.
You'll say that's because Bob Crow is being unreasonable, I'm saying that due to the way union rules work the agreement should be easier for managment. They only have to persuade a majority of workers that it's acceptable, where as the other side has to be accepted by only the managment.
(
PsychoChomp, Mon 18 Feb 2013, 11:24,

So basically they're both shit. But managment seems to always be seen as the victim in the press.
