Home time thread
There's been much talk of money on here today, crass I know, but what (within the bounds of realism) do you think is a really good wage, when are people paid too much, how much would you like to earn?

alt: are you thrifty or profligate?

altalt: do you think Monty might be dead?
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:33, 71 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
It is vulgar to discuss income. Actual, desired or otherwise.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:38, Reply)
You're vulgar, as is you mum and everyone related to you and their pets

There is a very brief shot of Lampito's hot flatmate on the great british beer festival "beercast".

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:41, Reply)
this is hilarious
because her flatmate is crow

al's a gayer (to the tune of "pearl's a singer")
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:42, Reply)
You know who I mean you devious cow.
Although, that said, Crows soft and effeminate wrists give the impression of belonging to a young lady and would add a certain air of wistfullness to any lovemaking that might occur with him.

imma save this
and when your daughter is 18 imma post it on her facebook wall.

ha!

When my daughter is 18, you're going to be incredibly wrinkly.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:45, Reply)
and so are you
however much you think you've still got it and you find you can only get hard in the shower by thinking about 2 of her mates experimenting on one another
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:47, Reply)
I don't think I've ever nominated Swipe for this before, but, POTD.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:48, Reply)
You'll still be alone
but despite telling yourself repeatedly that it's a lifestyle choice and that you never wanted to be tied down, you know deep down you're lying. And you can't get laid because nobody wants to fuck a wrinkly ginger with saggy tits.

I'm looking forward to the day I'm sufficiently bald that I can justify wet shaving my head.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:52, Reply)
You don't have to be completely bald to do this.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:56, Reply)
I'm not, I look like a neo nazi with a shaved head

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:57, Reply)

I say.

And a top chap Crow is an' all.

al's a gayer

he only ran down to the shops
half a mile with 20 stops
he never made it.

the ex was on about £250k plus bonus of about £50k
i think that's a "really good wage". i think people are paid too much when they aren't doing a good job, or that job is rather pointless. footballers are the best example. you are kicking a ball around. not curing cancer.

alt: you tell me...

altalt: no. but i am hoping he hasn't given up on us :(
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:41, Reply)
I'd like to know what he did to earn that kind of salary.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:44, Reply)
Baker.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:45, Reply)
Greggs hat?

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:46, Reply)
to be fair, it's highly specialised, he's v v bright, and he works his arse off
he gets paid that because v few people can do what he does.

none of this stops him being a FUCKING TOSSER, however.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:46, Reply)
So he's a highly skilled rent boy?

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:47, Reply)
No, he bottles Advocaat, or something.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:49, Reply)
That doesn't help.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:49, Reply)
well, he's not on here, so it's not fair to talk about his job etc
and by job, i mean cock.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:52, Reply)
Of course it is. I merely want to know what job someone can do that justifies a salary of £300,000 a year.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:53, Reply)
Depends what he delivers in returns for that

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:56, Reply)
^ this ^

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:58, Reply)
I'll deliver 120 time my salary this year, that alone justifies it
Regardless of the stress involved, long hours, travel etc etc
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:59, Reply)
On the other side of things though, if you bring in millions to your company, it would be worth paying out that wage.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:57, Reply)
Exactly this

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:58, Reply)
Swipe.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:13, Reply)
I think a good wage gives you the ability to buy lots of wine
you are paid too much when you waste money on wine that doesn't come in discounted crates and I'd like to be paid enough to buy a worthless bottle of vintage 1790 claret.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:43, Reply)
hahahaha
the problem with w(h)inegate is that basically, searching around for deals and discounts makes you look like a pov. most people don't want 12 bottles of identical povvy wine. shove them up your povvy cock and shit out a t k maxx shellsuit.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:45, Reply)
I just bought 3 bottles of mead reduced from £8.99 to £3.99
Does that make me a povvo, because if it does I don't care cos I already drank one/ Also stay about from our mead when you come down, its mine. Hopefully by the time we meet you will have forgiven me for photoshopping a A&F demin mini skirt on to a fat male, adding animal stick legs and putting your actual face on the body to make it look like you have no neck. LOVE YOU!

YES ! GET IN THERE !
Did you hear what he said about charbonay suvion? He said the grape breed isn't esiquential for outdoors weather on a tuscon summer compared to a pinochet noir.

I'm gonna drink a bottle I the wine society's Beaujolais tonight
It's a well rounded, tasty and well priced at £6.50 a bottle.

This is how you get value for money on wine.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:49, Reply)
I have a wine guy.
He does some very nice bottles for around that sort of layout. He imports them and gives me 10% off :)

This is also how you get value for money on wine.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:51, Reply)
That is why I do. Best way to get advice about what new stuff to try.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:52, Reply)
Or, or
You could just pay as little as is physically possible, as price is everything
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:53, Reply)
all the wines i like are about £20 a bottle
i like sancerre, for example.

luckily, £20 also buys rotgut vodka, and i can happily neck that instead.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:51, Reply)
I like a bit of Sancerre
You can get a decent drop for less than £20 I you look
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:54, Reply)
Sancerre rose is quite nice occasionally, particularly with barbecued lamb.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:58, Reply)
I spend whatever I have and my lifestyle stays the same.
I had a 50% increase last year which was nice, I don't have to think when I spend aslong as I keep things resonable.

I think if I wasn't a sicko I could probably get another 50% on top of what I get today, but I don't really want the stress of being so high up, as i'd have to manage people, and I just wanna code.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:45, Reply)
I reckon the most exgravigent I get is getting a minicab to pick up a take away from my favorite resturant every month or soo because i'm _just_ outside their delivery area, don't drive and really like the food.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:49, Reply)
Can they not make an exception or charge you an extra couple of quid?
That would make far more sense
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:55, Reply)
I've asked them, and its because he doesn't want to do deliveries in the first place, because it takes a member of staff away from the busy resturant floor.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:58, Reply)
They'd deliver to Al's though, #justsayin

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 17:58, Reply)
I wish Needos or Tayyabs did deliveries.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:00, Reply)
How much is a one-way cab?
If you know your cab company, you can ask them to pay for the meal (if Needos/Tayyabs don't do remote-carding) and then you pay the driver. The driver would need a pretty sweat tip though if you don't know them.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:08, Reply)
I live about a 40 minute drive away so it would be ridiculously expensive

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:11, Reply)
Hah, yeah', that's gonna cost a pretty penny,
Plus with those two places, one of the good things is ordering a little and then ordering a bit more depending on what everyone fancies.... rather than doing one big order at once.... which you can't really do with delivery.

Didn't realise you were so far out of London.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:18, Reply)
I'm not. In zone 2. But having driven over to Monty's before I know how long it takes.

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:19, Reply)
Fair enough

(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:00, Reply)
I figure, when I do it, I'm normally not going out that weekend, or I spend plenty of weekends where i'm not going out...
.... and the meal comes to £20ish, and the delivery is about £8.... Give or take a quid here'n'there, £30 on a weekend's enjoyment (I get two meals out of it 'cus I don't eat much in reality) isn't exgravigent.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 18:02, Reply)
I don't mind the footballers too much
They only earn the huge money if they are worth that much to the club same as any job. if you are worth it to the employers they will pay you. And they are required to spend a lot of time in England paying tax so again, no problem as far as I am concerned.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 19:40, Reply)
I make a billion pounds a year
but it would be nice to make a kajillion, I won't lie.
(, Wed 26 Jun 2013, 19:47, Reply)
According to this site called myspace that no-one ever thought would die all my mates earn £250000+
