alright gaylordsLBC this morning is going on about how in Tower Hamlets only one in four primary school children speaks English at home. I remember when I raised this as a concern a year ago the board's resident liberal hand wringers decried this worrying as MASSIVE RACISM. When was the last time someone embarrassed themselves in front of you with a pathetic attempt to appear right on. Hopefully not since you were at college. I was not so lucky.
Alt: should we have to pay for these selfish and lazy parents who are neglecting their children in this way or perhaps their own communities should if not themselves. Self funded Jewish schools were set up in the early 1900s to help migrants escapism persecution. And these were genuine asylum seekers not benefit tourists. Just sayin

The school I read at is in south London and 99.9% of the children are from africaThey pick up English super-fast, but of course a lot of their parents can't help them read at home. It makes a massive difference.
Mostly they are lovely kids, although one did once threaten my colleague for 50p. And the little boy I had one year was called "felony", which must have meant something different in his parents' homeland, either that or they hated him on sight...

Not so frightful as to stop widespread abuse of immigration laws or a mass exodus back to country of origin by poor vicitms of abuse.Don't forget that each year people fleeing trouble (often legitimately) will plough through a good four or five other free and safe European countries and don't stop til they reach our racist hotbed of persecution eh?

I've got a course in Milton Keynes, E d up with qualifications as an electrician. Install and test on a domestic level, then I either get a job, or if I have enough money do a second course as something more specialised.

Well, I dropped out of uni, tried my hand at this, enjoyed it for a number of years, but life has moved on, I wanna be at home with ladypig, and have weekends back . It's expensive though, all in with living costs and petrol etc it's gonna cost at least 4k.

The parents should be forced to learn English. If they refuse then no more benefits fo you gunga din. Or you sambo. Whilst making them talk in English at home can't be enforced it may help increase the overall percentage of their offspring who learn the language.
