News thread!
news.sky.com/story/1165530/super-typhoon-haiyan-hits-the-philippines

That super typhoon looks mental!! So glad we don't have weather like that.
Our supposed tornado the other week was pitiful in comparison.

Tell the group of your weather woes.

Alt. Any trips planned in the near future? I haven't. Might go to York nearer Christmas.

altalt. Your alcoholic beverage of choice.

Bruges.

Yep. Yours is better.
You get to sample Christmas City instead of just markets.

Bruges is a great place. Haven't been for years but would love to go back when micro is older.

I had recent weather woes when next door were getting their tiles replaced and it pissed down
as they had also taken off the tiles inbetween the houses, leadingg to water pissing into my bedroom ceiling, down the wall and into the living room

Alt:
I am currently in Edinburgh

AltAlt:
I'm craving for some gin at the moment. I shall purchase a bottle this very weekend

Staying with a bunch of lesbians - assuming they're proper lesbians like in the documentaries - on your own, in a remote house.
What could possibly go right?

Couple of winters back we had some good snow in oxford,
buses weren't running, and i was one of the few staff that lived within walking distance of the restaurant. So i got up early, and set to walk in to town. Fell over 3 or 4 times, but got there. 2 chefs made it in and a waitress so we had enough to open for the few people that might come in. Well, the restaurant was on the top floor of the Ashmolean Museum in oxford, and about 20 mins after i arrived was told by the security that there were not enough museum staff that would make it in to safely open the museum, so we couldn't open the restaurant either. Had to walk home, fell over a couple more times on ice, and wasted a lot of my time.
(, Fri 8 Nov 2013, 11:53, Reply)
I went flat on my back on black ice last year
proper winded myself, it was late evening and there was nobody about.
I had to lie there for a few minutes before I felt I could move.

Kinda scary.
(, Fri 8 Nov 2013, 12:00, Reply)
a different restaurant i used to work the bar in has a big glass front looking out on to a death corner,
ice always formed there and we would just spend our quiet shifts taking bets on who would peg it on the ice. Until i nice old lady fell and really hurt herself, had to get an ambulance out and all sorts, felt a bit bad.
(, Fri 8 Nov 2013, 12:05, Reply)
but still laughed :)
I had a bar with such windows too. It was well lols watching people disappear.
