Hmm... Well.
I have a new surround sound system getting deliviered. I'm having a Virgin man coming round to change my tivo box and I'm using a launderette with the great unwashed.

Exciting.

I like architecture in different cities. I still count Grey Street in newcastle as one of the most gorgeous streets in Europe. Lovely Georgian architecture. I also like museums, especially if they have a taxidermy bit with animals. That's the kid in me.
Do you like a kid in you?

The NRM is great
Make sure you see the "junk room" and the workshops out back.

I like all sorts of cultural stuff, castles and stately homes and that, went to the Natural History museum last year, excellent and the kids loved it. Science Museum a bit disappointing though.
Duxford is another good one, and trying to fit a trip to Bletchley Park one of these days.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 17:04, Reply)
Yeah, York is a top place. We want to check Jorvik out too.

(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 17:23, Reply)
Thought that was a rip-off tbh
All the raving about it, queuing and then it was like the slowest shittest ghost train ride through a cross between a museum and a bad Madam Tussauds ever.

Plenty of good pubs for lunch and to not meet Dozer for a pint, and/or do the brewery tour as well (we usually end up in Ye Olde Starr Inn).
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 17:28, Reply)
yeah it's well expensive too
Avoid the Dungeon though, it's proper shit innit.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 17:51, Reply)
The rail museum is the main reason we're off.
Any other suggestions?
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 17:55, Reply)
dunno, are you staying overnight?
Also, get to the NRM by walking into town then getting the road train from outside the Minster. Your daughter will enjoy that more than walking either of the main routes.

If you're there overnight then do a ghost walk.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 17:55, Reply)
Yeah Friday and Saturday.

Nice guy. Pro-Europe, worked hard to get UK investment into his beloved country. Didn't seem the kind to protest. I honestly don't know what to think.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 18:26, Reply)
Sorry about that.

(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 18:28, Reply)
I'll sit quietly and remenisce about a long sunny Sunday afternoon we spent...
...Drinking in a 'working men's club' (don't know how to spell the word in Ukrainian) with a cross-section of people. Young guys & Girls that wanted to practice their English, war veterans with some heart-rending stories of battles and occupation and just ordinary people who wanted to know what it was like in the UK.
One of those times where the day passed slowly and I counted my blessings to have been born free and relatively wealthy, sitting and shooting the breeze with foreigners who were just people with their own stories to tell.
(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 18:36, Reply)
I really liked Kiev when I went there. Particularly sitting in the early evening sunshine, playing chess with some bloke I'd never met before in a beer garden whilst sipping a pint or two.

(, Thu 6 Mar 2014, 19:04, Reply)
When you live in a secluded and insular democracy you can't know what to think
We do - and we're not confronted with what is ultimately going to result in a civil war.

Think that your colleague was a brave man.

And a real asset within Europe. I felt strange when I saw the protests because I knew the landmarks when they were shown on TV, it's come a bit closer now.

Trust me, I am in absolute certainty of how naive I am about some things, the things that matter.
I do stick my head in but I hate reading about it. It's never good news. Constant hatred, murders, wars, crises.
Im a pretty upbeat character and this brings me down.
