Afternoon all
Mr Bin's first day at school went well.
He seems so much happier.

I like the new sign Kaol. I think it's for your use only though.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 19:01, Reply)
Ooh
Nice sign, Kaol.

I'm confused though - is Keegan staying, or is he going?

What you cooking?

HA ha
Kaol's thread's really unpopular.

*true at time of typage*

Tut tut. His thread is not unpopular. It's just bad timing.

Face mask now gone...I can smile again.

I've got an urge for jaffa cakes.
Unfortunately I don't live in Manchester any more where there's a little shop on every street selling biscuity goodness.

I may have to make do with a cheese sandwich.

Gooood evening folks
How's everyone?

Nice sign Kaol.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 19:50, Reply)
A cheese sandwich
is not much of a substitute of Jaffa Cakes.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 19:50, Reply)
@Mrs Bin
I'm always in the mood for a cheese sandwich so if I get an urge for something but can't have it, then I have a cheese sandwich.

I've always got cheese and bread.

Hi BK, how ya been.

I may have a problem being able to go to both.

Re Cambridge bash
I've got a few friends round there so it would be a good excuse to visit. Unfortunately, if my jobhunt is going the direction I see it heading, I'll already be over my bash-quota. So unless it's sometime during the week after the Southhampton bash or close to the November 28th bashes, I'll have to sit that one out.

but happyish. Got a lot going on at the moment, but I have a day off tomorrow so yays for that. Downside is I have to be up at stupid o clock for a hospital appointment, but will try my hardest to not go back to bed when I get home and waste the day as I have a lot to do.

Are we all well?
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 22:47, Reply)

Go karting FTW!

Now if only they'd combine ultimate frisbee with quad bikes.....

EDIT: capn V, it's not that exciting for us inglanders. In the states thry get to drink so they all make a big deal about it. All we get is the ability to apply to Uni as a mature student....

Hmmm...
I like the idea of combining quadbiking with jousting...
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 22:58, Reply)
@MM
Aye, that's pretty much how I feel. I can't really think of anything I *really* want to do that I can't for another 19 days.

I just feel like I should be excited about it because all my mates seem to be giddy as school girls about it.

I guess this is a good example of me giving too much weight to the opinion of my peers.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:02, Reply)
I turned 21 in april
And there really wasn't anything to get excited about. However I did organise a load of people to go paintballing which was a) really good fun and b) made everyone shut about it, as I had Planned Something.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:05, Reply)
See that I could get excited about
My best mate did suggest we organise go karting at Christmas to kind of serve as a celebration for everybody that turns 21 between my birthday and people going back to uni after said holiday.

I quite like that idea.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:07, Reply)
Evenin ancrenne
Care to tell us why you'll be away from b3ta for so long? Anything that likely to keep you away must be exciting.

Re Quadbiking and jousting: May want to try that with mountain-bikes.

@capn V
It's well worth the effort. I get so bored of meeting for drinks for everyone's birthday that I try and organise something a bit different each year. I know it sounds wanky but you get to see another side of your mates too.

EDIT: and tata for now
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:11, Reply)
Karting ftw
It's great fun, plus they got new karts since last time I was there, which don't wreck your back. If you've never been, I suggest going.

Kaol, that's some impressive monitorage.
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:18, Reply)
PoD
I got given the 19-inch by a mate, as he decided to buy a pair of 24-inch widescreen, hi-def ones...
He's out-screened me :(
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:22, Reply)
Now that's impressive
I have a 19 inch widescreen, and a 22 inch tv, and a 12 inch laptop. They keep me happy.

I should probably head sleepward. Only 2 days of work left!
(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:24, Reply)
Impressive monitorage there
I've got a 19" CRT myself. Had it for 8.5 years and still going strong, but the image is slightly distorted at the left-most side.

In other news, I don't think I can finish my QOTW entry on time.

(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:48, Reply)
See ya tomorrow big K

(, Tue 2 Sep 2008, 23:50, Reply)
Well the dishes are suitably dried...
@MM

Doesn't sound wanky to me. Sounds much fun actually. I hardly do anything other than drinking with my friends these days which sucks.

After the soul searching induced by my recent break up I've come to the conclusion that but a very small subset my friends are actually just people that I've known for a very long time whose company I don't object to when drinking. I'm sure if they thought about it they'd say the same.

In response to this I'm making an effort to do more things with the people I still consider good friends as well as trying to meet more new people.

Hooray for (trying) to defeat my general dislike of the human race!

:edit: Time to finish watching a certain Mr Fry's documentary on manic depression.

:edit: again to remove stupid repetition of the word actually.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 0:02, Reply)
Speaking as someone who was 21 aaaaaages ago
I found that at the time, most of the people I considered friends were just causal friends from Uni who I mostly went out drinking and clubbing with. Over the years, I've lost touch with the casual friends I had back then but still keep in touch with the closer friends.

Being 21 is a blast, but once you get older, your freinds will be fewer but your friendships will be deeper. I'm still good friends with some guys I knew from back when I was 12 and we still go on holiday together.

We could have a problem here
Although if I'm honest I'm not feeling manic enough to stay awake much past tomorrow afternoon. I'll be heading to bed in around 37 minutes.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:01, Reply)
Haha!
I'm not in a particularly manic state at the moment either.
I do, however have to be up at 7 for work.
Which means I need to be asleep by 4 at the latest.

I'm just back from shopping. One of the best things about insomnia is the fact that you can do useful stuff when 90% of people are asleep.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:03, Reply)
Indeed. Not since around March have I felt particularly manic.
I should be up around 6:30 to have a bath and breakfast. I suspect I'll be up later for a shower and no breakfast.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:06, Reply)
So do you work or anything?
Or you going back to uni or something?
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:08, Reply)
Not going back to uni anytime soon.
It didn't work out for me at all. I hope to go back in the future when I might suit uni a bit better.

Working too far from home at the moment as a "Planning Engineer/Reporting Analyst". Going to update my CV over the weekend and start whoring myself around a bit in hope of finding better pay nearer to home.

How about you?
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:13, Reply)
Been graduated just over a year
Worked health and safety for a sawmill.

Doing design work for my parent's company at the moment.

Desparately looking for a job, but the fact that I don't know what I want to do isn't much of a help.

Hoping to move to London soon.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:17, Reply)
Yea that's always a problem
I'm hoping to get into trading before moving the country and that's about the extent of my "big life plans" at the moment.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:18, Reply)
Yeah...
Long term plans never have been my strongest skill.

In the short term as long as I've got enough money to eat, buy alcohol and train tickets to Southampton, then I'm fine.
(, Wed 3 Sep 2008, 1:21, Reply)
I've always been good at long term plans
But I make so many that they rarely last (even as plans) for more than a few days. 13mins...
