Good morning
Mr Beard and Ms Jiggle.
Vipros, if your bay tree keeps falling over, you need to fix it - you can't rest on your laurels.
Sorry, is it too early for that sort of crap?

It's not so bad here.
A little bit miserable, but it usually is.
I've been so busy already this morning which isn't good but hopefully It'll make the day go a bit faster.
I had to come in even earlier as I received a phone call from the temp's agency last night after I'd gone home saying she'd done "something" to the switchboard and was spazzing out a bit.
I'm just scanning the gazillion emails I received last night/this morning from various people asking what the fuck is going on.
:(
Edit: Moring K, it's never to early for rubbish jokes!

Is it a bit wet and windy in the south then?
It's fair here, although a tad dull. But dead calm.
Heh heh. I can imagine the e-mails you're getting, 'lust:
"Hi Wanderlust, I tried phoning your office yesterday and some dippy woman answered. Then my phone line went dead. Now I can't get any electronic equipment to work, as she appears to have cast an evil spell on it. Please could you let me know what the fuck is going on.

I think she's just been pressing random buttons and smashing her head on the keyboard.
I've had a bit of a fiddle teehee and sorted it now though. I could get really worked up about it but meh I can't be bothered.
I've been asked to do so much work this week that I don't actually get paid for so I've decided to just say no to people now. I've had enough of people taking the piss here so I've decided to stop being a push over and do my work, nothing more :)

damn b3ta!
this might amuse slightly: one of the guys in my office is in the maritime division, the guys he works with are really sound, nice guys, and he is ok, but pretty self-important, has quite a high opinion of himself, and loves that he is on the maverick maritime team.
yesterday he asked me about the film The Untouchables and after a brief discussion he showed me a picture of the 4 main guys (Costner, Connery, Andy Garcia and the other one) onto which he was photoshopping the faces of his team.
I had to stuff my fist into my mouth to not laugh in his face or rip the piss out of him.

What a lovely, lovely day. In about half an hour I fear the ground is going to open up and Satan's going to pop out and announce end of days.
In other news, how is everyone this morning? Jiggling along nicely?

How are we all today?
Well, it's day one of not working, and I had a 'long' lie. I think it's sad when quarter past nine counts as a long lie.
I think it's currently dry here, but I'm only basing it on not being able to hear rain, as I haven't looked outside yet.

PoD - I think 'long lie' is a good Scots expression. Much better than 'lie-in'.
BTW, ladies - what is it about firemen? Are even pig-ugly men suddenly sexually desirable when they don a yellow helmet?

I was about to jump in with an offer of either haggis or home-made meatballs/burgers (depends if you drop them) until you mentioned the 'V' word.
If you eat da fishies I'll whip you up a virtual bowl of Cullen Skink with Cream and a chunk of freshly baked granary on the side.
If not, have a turnip (with a cherry on top)

Cleaning and sharpening the two knives I found when clearing out 'stuff'.
(Knew that'd get your interest)
Might even dig the wood-carving kit out, then bimble to the beach searching for a nice bit of driftwood for a knife handle. Except it's pissing down and I have children so I'll probably huddle gnome-like over a laptop and burn some CDs for the car. And cook a haggis.
There you go, B3ta's most boring weekend plan ever.

It is of course traditionally served with turnip...

The most problematic will be working out how I can optimise a spreadsheet (and/or access more computing power) so that it doesn't take around a year (literally) to do it's job.

Actually, it's usually swede which is the 'neeps' served with haggis. I use the term 'turnip' for both interchangeably, even though technically a swede is actually a rutabaga and not a true turnip.
Yum.

My Grandad used to do all the goat-maintainance, but it's a bit hard to do if you're dead.
The goats are really old, so easy to catch, it's not that much of a hassle to do.
Plus I get to see my Gran, and she's awesome. I've not seen here lately as most of my weekends have been Southampton-based.

My Grandad used to live on a farm
and would often have to look after the goats.
I think he'd get a bit lonley sometimes though so would have a little chat with them.
I remember him telling me that trying to talk to a goat wasn't always easy, apparently they kept butting in.

So is that how the expression 'to sort the sheep from the goats' came about then? Because if they're Angora goats, it's actually relatively difficult for the novice goatherd.

Hey BK
Yeah I was down staying at mates over the weekend and went to a place called Kubla Khans for some dinner. They serve bizarre meats like Zebra and Springbok which you pick and choose buffet style, stick them in a bowl and then they fry them there and then.
Apparently you shouldn't mix your meats as different meats cook at different speeds (which is glaringly obvious looking back on it)
Hence why I spent Monday to Thursday with explosive botty burps on the bog with no internet access in my flat. Bad times all round.
Also managed to do a crap on the train from Glasgow to Aberdeen only to discover half way through there were no shit tickets left. A nice old lady gave me her Kleenex.
You been up to much anyway?

Holy - Was it a Mongolian restaurant? There is a place in Brighton called Ghengis Khans where you choose all your bits and pieces of meat and veg and sauces and then they fry it.
Although Springbok isn't very mongolian is it?

Heh, the last ceildh I went to the band ended up staying back after and getting rat arsed with all of us at the grooms expense. One of them ended up copping off one of the bridesmaids, apparently this happened on a regular basis. Sounds like a decent social life to me!
Saying that last time I went to a ceildh I managed to face plant into the ground and broke my nose so no more for me.

@clendrix:
Edmund asked for advice about whether he should ask one of his female friends called Tess if she wanted to go beyond friendship (see this post and last Friday evening's HSH-thread). She said yes (see this post). And now they're off to Legoland together.
Re Mongolian restauraunt:
To me, it sounds like the only items on the menu would be greasy mutton, marmot and airag, or of you're lucky, potatoes too.
@TGB Re Leamington Spa bash:
Cant make it. I won't be in England at that time.
@wanderlust:
If you keep up that jiggling, you'd have to be renamed wanderbust.

@PoD
Ah yes, free buffets FTW.
In my experience one of the best around is Airth Castle, near Stirling. Top notch buffet with breaded mushrooms, little bits of pizza and chicken legs.
Don't know how much it would cost, but I'm not paying so I don't really care!

Wooo
I had them playing at the opening of my shop about a month or so and they were actually really good. I've listened to them on CD several times since but they're far better live, albeit slightly cheesy.
And Last Tango in Harris...brilliant!

My friends were at Airth Castle at a wedding not long ago
But it was a disco, and not a ceilidh. And I didn't know the folk getting married. Many reasons for me not playing at it really.

What are you saying? You have magnificent breasts. I certainly admired them at Reading.
TGB - I think if I ever write a film or book it's going to be called "When Herons Attack". I don't know why, it just sounds like a good title in my opinion.

If you like giving customers lessons in manners ensure you know and get on very well with
a) your manger
b) everyone in customer services (who will throw any complaints out!)

"Hoots, mon"
always amuses me! It's bizarre how these phrases become stereotypical yet are never actually uttered unless in jest, or quotation.
Similarly, "Och aye, the noo" is never said by a Scot.
"Och aye" is used, but never followed by "the noo", because it is totally meaningless!
Stereotypes are great.

Four Weddings
You know the bit where they're at the Scottish reception, and they're dancing? Well, I know the bloke who recorded that track with his band.
His isn't the band which is in shot - they're actors - but the soundtrack is him.
BTW, "See you, Jimmy", although also a stereotypical phrase, is actually uttered on occasion. And yes, it can be the precursor to a 'Glasgow kiss'.
PS - I'm off home. See you all later.
