Oh man sad times, we picked so many that we have had to give most away.
Sloe gin is one of lifes great tipples though

Gin + Berries + brown sugar
easiest recipe out there, I tend to use soft brown sugar as it adds a better flavour IMO, but give it 3 months gently shaking from time to time to mix it up and then decant into some nice bottles

If you don't have sloes you can still have fun having a go with other fruits.
Quinces and damsons are quite good. Or even raspberries.
(, Tue 7 Oct 2014, 11:29, Reply)
damson gin is ace

We have access to good number, but there's competition.
This usually leads to people picking them earlier and earlier, a kind of race to the bottom. Then no one has nice sloe gin. The tragedy of the commons.

Has there been a frost yet? Do you live in Norway?

(, Tue 7 Oct 2014, 11:13, Reply)
I live in the countryside
rural temps drop well below that in the city

he lives in one of those identikit estates in suburbia

(, Tue 7 Oct 2014, 11:18, Reply)
Damn straight
In fact I only have a half house identikit new build
(, Tue 7 Oct 2014, 11:24, Reply)
Fair enough. I don't live in a city, but haven't noticed it getting that cold yet.

I have quite a lot at home that I made a few years ago now - still good. I might decant it in to nice bottles and give it away at Christmas.

Up in the lakes we had first frost last weekend
just enough to get the berries starting to split but due to location we have tonnes of sloes
