Also if I had a late Marina it would have an O-series engine that was developed around 78 I believe.

I may be able to score free ones from my uncle who works in some kind of chemical profession where they use lots of water filtration type devices.
Also: Absolut, Smirnoff Black, or Finlandia?
:edit: @Ancrenne Fantastic idea! What are the effects? Does it take away the edge of the vodka, or just add vanilla flavour? or both? or more?

Save your money and teach yourself to drink Vladivar :D
Save your money and teach yourself to drink Vladivar :DOr get Russian Standard, that's pretty damn good for the price you pay.
By the time you've faffed around with filters, it's not worth the hassle.
EDIT: The vanilla pod vodka is excellent! I've sampled it first-hand, works excellently, takes the harsh edge off, and tastes much smoother, overall. And of vanilla.

 Weasel,
Weasel,You'd be exactly right, I did that for most of my time at uni.
Unless you're on a tiny budget, get the stuff that's around a tenner a bottle, the stuff you can pick up for six pounds is gut-rot.
See what's on offer.
If you can get it cheap enough, I'd recommend Absolut, Finlandia or Russian Standard.
If not, Vladivar isn't bad.

@ Kaol / Ancrenne / Not sure who
@ Kaol / Ancrenne / Not sure whoWould the 6 pound stuff do for making vanilla vodka, or is it akin to putting lipstick on a pig?
(, Wed 17 Sep 2008, 0:52, Reply)
 Re: Drinking it straight
Re: Drinking it straightI'd recommend two ways of doing this.
You get the most out of it by drinking it as cold as possible.
Swigging out of the bottle isn't recommended.
Put four or five ice-cubes in a big glass, add vodka to cover the ice.
When the ice is mostly melted, you've got a decent temperature for sipping.
The other way is to leave your vodka in the freezer. I appreciate that, being a student, this is a recipe for it getting nicked.
EDIT: 6-pound stuff is fine for vanilla!

I hope Kaol isn't my dad. That would make things most confusing indeed.
