Harm Sweet Harm
these aren't my pants

Let's all take the day off sick and sit around in our pants drinking tea.

You know what I hate about this recession?
The idea that senior bank management who've done a diabolically shit job for the past 5 years will magically start doing a good job as soon as the government gives them some money.

That's what's making me angry this morning.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 7:45, Reply)
well that's banks for you
full of shit through and through.

How're you Lic?

How about you?

woke up with a horrible cold and I'm at that stage where I can't miss school because I have major assessment tasks and exams to study for :(

But otherwise well and good!

Zoinks!
That sucks.

In other news, I have no idea what I did with my watch last night. I took it off and put it down somewhere...

EDIT: Found it. Cat had knocked it onto the floor.

I have no watch, they've all run out of battery power. All six of them!
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 8:48, Reply)
Morning fuckers
I'm at my own branch today instead of the 24 hour centre I was at yesterday. Back there tomorrow and Thursday, it's busy and it smells pretty bad, but there's plenty of cases for me to write up at least.

Final puppy school of the season tonight, I'll quite miss them as we have a week off next week, I won't know what to do with myself.

How is everyone this morning?
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 8:51, Reply)
Morning Dok and Becky
I am hungover at the office now. BUT I had the foresight to book the afternoon off so I've got something to look forward to.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 8:57, Reply)
all six watches are out of batteries?
two of mine need new bands, and the other two need new batteries!

EDIT: puppy school? I loved taking my dog to puppy school.

Morning all
Why do you have six watches Dok?!

I don't wear one, I hate having things on my wrists.

Hi becks, I watched a program with loads of cute puppies in the other night (although most of them seemed to die) and thought of you!
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:08, Reply)
hey son of sam
I have 5 watches. I like to build up a collection seee?

Mornin' to ye all.
You dirty piss-munchers.

So... Tuesday.
*shrugs*

I was up far too late playing a game with my mates that has Space Zombies and a gun that fires saw-blades. And it wasn't Dead Space.

And it's really foggy here today.

Chains, VC, Becky, Sam and Dok!

Pancakes for all!

edit: and maybe pancakes for Kaol as well :p

Morning Becky
Puppy school ending, Booooooo, buy Yay.

Yup six watches, one dress watch, one tide watch, one day to day watch, one fancy looking clubbing watch, and two pocket watches. Almost a watch for every day on the week, but at least a watch for all occasions.

EDIT Yay pancakes from Badger, Thanks hun, just what I needed.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:14, Reply)
Kaol!
hiiii.

What game was it?

EDIT Sorry Vampy, but I do have some of these.

I want pancakes!
I might have to get somebody to make me some, for some reason we had our work pancake day a few weeks ago and they're saying no pancakes today. I'll go and persuade them when I've had more tea.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:18, Reply)
Mmm pocket watch
I bought my dad a pocket watch for christmas. Celtic knotwork on the case and glass panels front and back to show the workings. I almost kept it...

Thanks dok!

Yes I eat weird food. Shut up already.

I kinda like fog.
It's fun for creeping around in.

But I get stupid weather-related headaches, and fog can trigger them.

TGB, I had no idea it was pancake day, good work!

EDIT: It was Resistance 2. Lots of fun, if not a blatant rip-off of Halo and Gears of War.

I'm in a happy mood. Inspired by a suggestion given by a friend last night I've got a plan for a 3 in 1 tattoo. I just need to think of the 3 things I'd like tattooed. They have to be simple line drawings. One will probably be a CDC.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:20, Reply)
@Sam
For some reason? Didn't you persuade them it was pancake day as part of a villainous scheme to have two pancake days?
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:22, Reply)

A tattoo of this, V?

Why are you called X now btw? Did I miss that last week?

Edit: @ Light, I found out what happened, they thought it was pancake day then, made pancakes, and upon being informed (after I'd eaten the pancakes, I'm not stupid) that pancake day wasn't until the 24th, they tried to claim that it was just the company pancake day. Although I subsequently got them to admit they had made a mistake.

They did say then that we were having more pancakes on the 24th but are denying it now. I'll happily cook them but someone else will have to buy the ingredients as I'm skint!

That would be a boring Tat.

I want to get Alice, The Cheshire Cat, and the White Rabbit from American Mcgee's Alice across my shoulders, and a Phoenix on my uper left arm.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:26, Reply)
Morning Vipros
I might get that 3 in 1 tattooed on me. And a can of WD40 on the other arm.

Joking apart I am getting ever closer to having a tattoo, just need to get inspired. Got a few ideas though. Mostly relating to science of one sort or another (someone linked to this the other day), cos I'm cool.

for I just had to pick my phone out of the loo I had just pooed in.

It let out an errie green light below the waterline before going dark.

It's in intensive care oven now but I don't hold out much hope.

And I got poo on my hand.

Those characters from American McGee's Alice would be awesome. I love Alice in Wonderland and I love that version!

I want a tattoo and have decided on something, but haven't found a good enough picture of it yet

those science ones do look cool too

I have nice silky pockets in my suit trousers

which feel lovely when I insert my hands, but also provide such a slippery surface that anything placed within them often comes sliding out if my legs ever recline below the horizontal plane.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:34, Reply)
Well the CDC wont always be obvious Badger
Even though I plan to have it on my forearm! Having a horse would just make me seem like a girl to any non-b3tan. I might have one of them as an animal of some sort though.

@Sam I'm X because somebody nicked V. I changed to J briefly because she said she was fed up of Kaol going on about how he owns me because he came up with Captain V.

:edit: Another, unrelated tattoo I might get is a mobius strip, possibly around my wrist. The only other location I've thought about getting a tattoo is my right shoulder blade but I've no real ideas for that one yet. Will probably get something science themed or blatantly atheist.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:34, Reply)

I'd quite like either a stylalised DNA double helix round my wrist or some kind of evolution timeline...

If I had the money I would probably be covered in them by now!

it's from a series of books
admittedly kids books, by Garth Nix, about necromancers and stuff.

Magic is done using these symbols.

mainly though, I just like the look of them. although there is some small element of meaning.

edit: didn't make it clear that the first thing is what I want to get done. potentially followed by a large number of similar ones.

Other than that I'd steer clear!

Morning K2..

Edit: @ VC, I've had quite a few piercings but don't wear any at the moment. Been thinking about doing my ears again for a while although I am the king of procrastination, need to buy some needles and do them!

I could have a CDC, some sort of meaningless but nice looking art/pattern and one other thing.

I'm getting really excited about this tattoo now. Could get the lithium carbonate one done at the same time too as these are the only two I'm certain about.

I'll look into UV ink too incase I want to do something like this.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:54, Reply)
would you really want
something that looks like it'll poison you injected into your skin?
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:56, Reply)
as symbols go, I quite like it
but not being a raver, nor into the band biohazard, it's not for me.

I'd get the 4 symbols from Zeppelin's 4th album if it hadn't been done to death

that other symbol I linked to earlier (and it looks much better when not flaming) is the only thing that I've been sure about for a long enough period of time.

X: that UV one is awesome

OK
What do you folks think about getting your eyes tattoo'd?
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 9:56, Reply)
Isn't UV tattoo ink pretty dodgy stuff?
Sure I've heard bad things of some sort about it.

I might get the chemical structure of insulin tattooed on me, that'd be pretty cool. The runes off Zep IV are cool but done to death as you say Vipros. And it's only their third or fourth best album, despite what every man and his dog seems to think!

Morning all,

I've been silent for a few days, due to house moving antics and no broadband until Friday in my new place *sads*

On the plus side though, I've already been given the settlement from my written-off motor, and I've unpacked and set up all the important stuff from the house move (i.e. TV, amp and my awesome new speakers). Everything else is still in boxes.

I'm currently tooling around in a cheapy stopgap Focus at the moment, which will do the job until I find a replacement for the beast. TGB has already offered me £35 for it once I'm done with it.

Edit: TGB - the housewarming will happen soon...ish. Well once I actually manage to get into the rooms without having to demolish walls of boxes anyway.

Edit 2: Sam - I've got a 5.1 setup using Ruark Vita Symphony units. It sounds the business.

I've had a look on there, but I suspect I may well end up hitting the auction houses to see if I can pick up a decent finance-repossessed example on the cheap :)

The Focus will do for the meantime as a get-to-work hack, even though it's only got 1/4 of the power of the Jag. Despite what Vipros says, I consider them to be the most grin-inducing cars in their class, and the two examples in my family have never put a foot wrong (despite one having close on 200k on the clock)

Toyotas are boring Stig!

Ruark stuff is pretty nice... I have B&Ws and some 70s Leaks, and some Adam monitors. Wouldn't mind a nice 5.1 system, mine is pretty cheap and shitty.

It's a high-spec late mk1. I much prefer them to the mk2s myself, but to be honest there wasn't a lot of choice in the matter in this one - I was offered it at a good price, so I bought it as a stopgap.

I'd have drawn the line at a Toyota though. I recently drove a 2-year old 'hot' Corolla, which completely failed to stir any excitement whatsoever. To drive it was to feel the cold geriatric icy hand of death clawing away at my soul. It's not a car. It's an appliance bought by readers of 'Which?' magazine.

An Alpina E30? *raises eyebrows*. That sounds like an awesome drift machine. I much prefer the awesome E30 to the unequivocally shite E36 that followed it.

Right. I think I've had enough car talk. I need to talk about something else. Like boobies for example.

all of the best cars I have driven have been german

I just like the look of the slightly older 3-series estates.

Toyotas are reliable and cheap
but unfortunately they are about as exciting as a washing machine. I do have a very nice Bosch washing machine, but it definitely fails to inspire the same emotions cars do!

The Alpina's a C2 not a B6, I got it wrong. Think they did a B6 on an E30 as well, confusingly...

Here it is though, looks gorgeous! Even the 1.8 E30s handle bloody nicely, this would be an awesome machine... I'm after something for the weekends at the moment, even though I can't possibly afford another car.

Vipros, German cars are definitely the best. Get an old one though, they've got infinitely more class (and build quality) than the new ones. Although you do have to spend a fair bit of time fixing them...

OK, I'll stop talking about cars now!

Plenty of time for it when you're dead.

I have 5 or so hours every night now I'm working regularly again, I'd feel just as much like death in the mornings whether I had 2 or 8 hours though. Somehow ended up pulling a lot of 2 and 3 day all nighters at uni, I once did a 36 hour studio session!

The year before last I worked nearly 90 hours straight, on my feet and running around. I was hallucinating fairly severely by the end of it and probably shouldn't have been in charge of anything.

It's not much wonder I have high blood pressure and stabbing chest pains with the amount of coffee (and Turbo Coffee TM) that I've drunk!

@Ethelred
bar the sugar, flapjacks are quite good for you.

@Roota,

I found out the other day that bacon and eggs are far lower in calories, than I expected!

4 slices of bacon, grilled and 3 eggs, scrambled constitutes less than 500 calories!

You could eat 4 plates of the stuff a day and still be within the RDA of calories! (5 plates for a bloke).
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 13:55, Reply)
Savoury is better
Although I do enjoy sweet things from time to time... (yep, my new year's resolution failed!)

What bass are you getting Dok?

@ Stig - who the fuck grills bacon though? That's just wrong. Plus I don't believe that at all, maybe if you use microscopic bacon, but I don't. Also you're forgetting the two doorstop slices of bread and quarter pound of butter you need to complete the meal!

There are a couple I'm looking at in my local music shop, both of which are just sub £400, made by Dean & Tanglewood. There is a nice Aria one, but the neck's too thick for me.

Bill, it won't stop me coming outside when everybody lse is smoking, and I really could do with the extra cash.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 14:04, Reply)
@Sam
I grill bacon. It's nice that way.

As for B&B, I leave that out, not interested.

@Roota

Imagine that! "Lose pounds....stuff yourself with bacon!"

I have to admit, I'm a gym junkie, so anything I eat, I burn it off at the gym. That way, I can stay a reasonable size.

The moment I have to use a fire brigade to get me out of the house, I know I have a problem!
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 14:08, Reply)
The only problem with that Stig
is that you'd end up dead from the anount of salt and other nastyness in the bacon.

Bread and butter is a must with bacon.
(, Tue 24 Feb 2009, 14:11, Reply)
By bread and butter
I of course mean put it in a sandwich, not just have bread and butter with it!

Bacon should only be fried. No exceptions under any circumstances.

Tanglewood make really good basses for the money Dok, you'd probably struggle to get anything better under 400 notes.

Can you not just buy dodgy foreign fags? Doesn't cost that much then :D

At 10:30am tomorrow I have the Essex Fire And Rescue Fire Officer Man coming to visit me.

I have it on good authority that he enjoys playing with his pole, polishing his helmet and that he always keeps his nozzle clean.

So, Lot 1, a meating with a fireman.
Who will start the bidding?
