strangely I quite like it. What songs should you be embarrassed about liking, but really aren't?
I make no secret of the fact that I think Don't stop moving by S Club is fucking awesome.

and a metal head. I still put Mysterious Girl on my students' union jukebox every chance I got. I just love anything even remotely poppy ragga.

I just love her voice.
And 'Trapped' by Colonal Abraham.

of Father Abraham of Smurfs fame.
Not to be confused with Colonel Abrams of 'Trapped' fame.

listened to more bigelf though. I quite like it.

Julian Cope's website Head Heritage is a goldmine of info on obscure bands - the Unsung section particularly.

So basically everything in my music collection.
Not seth lakeman, though, I'd happily go gay for him.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:32, Reply)
I bought his latest offering the other day, it's great.
I shall also be seeing him live again in a couple of months, and cannot wait.
Trufax: My other half used to work with a guy who lived with Seth Lakeman. This guy had a regular job and would get annoyed at Seth rocking into his room in the middle of the night seeing if he wanted to do something stupid, as Seth didn't have a proper job, being a folk musician.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:36, Reply)
I've seen him live a few times at the academy, it's always been awesome. Contemplating getting tickets to his gig there in novemeber.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:43, Reply)
it was as if he didn't understand how normal people operated, which amused me somewhat.
He's been amazing when I've seen him live and am very much looking forward to the next one
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:45, Reply)
He does seem to be a man obsessed by folk music, folklore and not a lot else.
Right, fuck it, buying tickets.

the sclub ladies. Admittedly I don't know what the sclub8 girls look like now though.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:01, Reply)
but I didn't understand the term 'ropey'!
How old will the SClub8 kids be now?
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:02, Reply)
He always called her ropey tina and it's just stuck with me.

that they'll be at least legal by now (though probably still outside xkcd's age/2 + 7 limit).
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:13, Reply)
The youngest of them will be 19 in 2 months. So that's way legal.
And that rule only applies to relationships. Not to just drooling, or even a quick shag!
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:18, Reply)
and Lovecats by The Cure came on. I chose to shout 'TUNNNNNNE' rather loudly and got a lot of strange looks... well I like it :(
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:46, Reply)
you must have missed the long thread a load of us had a while ago discussing the merits of the Cure.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:50, Reply)
if you don't love the song. You're a dick.
Lovecats, The Forest, Boys Don't Cry, Friday I'm in Love, etc

like off Disintegration, or the song Burn off the Crow soundtrack. Awesomeness.

but the reaction in the pub said otherwise!! Bloody bumheads everywhere!
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:50, Reply)
I'd not really heard much of their stuff until I moved in with my gf cos she is a massive fan, and has all of their albums.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:55, Reply)
Lovecats used to be on a dancemat game for the Playstation 2! I seem to recall getting twatted around my friends house and dancing to it in her living room! Haha
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:57, Reply)
we've launched into an inpromptu rendition of it. Our double bassist loves it
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 11:58, Reply)
Boys Don't Cry on the guitar. Pretty distinctive song and easy enough but ace all the same.
And I can listen to The Perfect Girl on repeat for about 20 minutes without getting tired of it.

it's labelled as Colin Hay (the singer) on my mp3, but I don't think it is him.
I could probably contrive to send it to you when I'm at home if you remind me about it

I don't understand how people don't love them...
As for S Club 7, Reach is better, surely...?
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:06, Reply)
by Chumbawamba. On the whole, I'd argue it's pretty good. Certainly better than a lot of the dross that was being released around the same time.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 13:28, Reply)
listening to the whole of the Katy Perry album. I quite enjoyed most of it, apart from that "Ur so Gay" song.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:06, Reply)
it sounds pretty crap. Nothing like "He's so gay" by Frank Zappa which is all kinds of awesome.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:12, Reply)
but the cheesy disco feel of He's So Gay just pips it for me.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:29, Reply)

Guilty pleasure song - Where Are You Baby by Betty Boo.

I hated them from the start, them and Embrace, I could never understand why people suddenly loved Embrance. They have always been shit.

- Offsprings later stuff.
- Semisonic
- Will Smith (esspeicaly Lost and Found)
- The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
- The All American Rejects
- Eminem
- Meatloaf
...ermmm... there are probably loads more, I like more music than I dislike.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:22, Reply)
Only music I don't like is faux-ott-emotion crap (eg, R&B), pointless shoutty crap (esspeicaly that "Breath-in shout 'war'" shit), stuff that is basicly just a drumb machine.
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:26, Reply)
bird from Paramore is hot, Linkin Park are entertaining live for about half an hour.
KT Tunstall was exceptionally good live, huge sound, loads of energy
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:28, Reply)
Is a horrifically bland bald twat. His entire solo back catalogue should be melted down imminently and used to tarmac roads.

There. I said it.
I also quite like a McFly song or two, I have Take That's 'Beautiful World' album, I like Dr. Hook, I taped the Girls aloud concert on Sky and I like Star Trekkin' by The Firm. And yet I'm a metal head. What's wrong with me?
(, Thu 24 Sep 2009, 12:30, Reply)
Cover of Rolling Stone is perhaps one of the greatest songs ever written.
Not to mention You make my pants want to get up and dance!

Are just a few descriptions I can apply to Meatloaf's music. Never saw the appeal, although I think the man himself is someone I'd like to have a pint with.

after his shows as he damn near killed himself hitting all the notes.

wrapped up in an operatic rock score for people that don't like rock.
I went to a wedding do years ago and a Meatloaf track came on. Two guests that no-one had apparently seen before got up and did a fully worked out and choreographed dance routine to it. It was the biggest pile of self indulgant wank I've ever bore witness to.
The dancing wasn't much better
