was basically a sheet of ice. not seen anyone stack it yet, but I have a good view of a reasonably slopy car park, so am bound to soon.
was your journey to work extra dangerous today?

I had to WD40 the lock to get in, the frost was thin but rock hard, aside from that the roads are fine, but i do live in Lahndan

I had to walk in the road, and when there were cars I had to WALK IN THE GUTTER. Bastards.
AND I have that stupid fucking Lady Gaga song in my head where she sings "Ra Ra oo la laa"

and will most likely just have Dio in my head all day

...'I remember you' stuck in my head for 24 hrs. Awful song, awful band - it is driving me mad.

if it's any consolation, which it wont be, when I get to the "Ra Ra" bit my brain turns it into "RA Ra Rasputin" by Boney M.

not much fun.
our car park is being gritted now at least, which is something

but all it seems to do is turn the ice brown. I think it might be Bovril.

and was chatting with the driver (actually he started talking to me. I'm not really a 'chatting to the bus driver' kind of person) and he said that around here they were very short on grit: the roads had been done but not the pavements, and this meant lots of people walked in the road.
'That's fair enough', he said, 'but it did mean I ran over an old granny on Saturday' and shrugged.

I'm not sure the bus drivers down here can talk
specially not the horrible ginger woman. she looks like a fucking neanderthal

was he really a bus driver or was he an escaped mental?
(, Wed 23 Dec 2009, 9:27, Reply)

I have some made-up pals. They're great, we do everything together and they are such a laugh. Honestly the things I could tell you.

so yesterday was just horrific. I have yet to fall over, which is surprising as I usually faceplant in normal weather and sometimes when I'm standing still.

As are most of the pavements once you get out of my street anyway. Yet still people are leaving their cars at home and walking to work. Fools.
(, Wed 23 Dec 2009, 9:29, Reply)
Pavements and sidestreets are an icy death trap, though the main roads and bus routes are ok. Nearly stacked on the way from my front door to the car and in the car park in work.

Walk slow, drive carefully, don't wear leather shoes or heels, leave earlier.

Have to go out now though. I live in a little cul-de-sac and it's a smidge glassy, to say the least. Low gear, low revs!

Strangely *some* pavements in Wanstead are ice free while others are in the batting for being a venue in the winter olympics. The Central Line had its usual "completely incompetent Wednesday" - but what the hell! It's Christmas!

I'm leaving it a while to see if the sunshine helps melt it...
