Remember when we all used to talk about lunch?
And Vipros would bore us all to hell and back by saying how many sesame seeds were on his toasted bagel with caviar and fois gras.

What boring foodstuffs are you stuffing down your gullet today?
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:13, 86 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
German rye bread with cheese and quorn ham.

Correct.
But I'm a bit of a health freak so it's ok.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:46, Reply)
I like it
It's as much the variety and the surprise more than anything else as they pick 4 "punnets" for you. At £3 a pop or £12 a month (which you can change to less, say twice a month/£6 a month) it is steep. But the food is tasty, healthy and otherwise lightens up my gloomy existence.

Green olive bread and lemon and coriander houmous
and a nice cup of decaff Twining's English Breakfast.

Red wine.
And pickles in the early days.
Now it's green beans. I could eat packet upon packet of lightly boiled green beans with a bit of melted butter and a sprinkling of salt.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:24, Reply)
So could I, now.
Kid's mum craved firelighters. It got so bad she nibbled on the corner of one and was sick on the fireplace.

I've spent the morning making chicken stock so probably soup.
Stock - not as difficult as you think, just time consuming.

(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:30, Reply)
I make at least one stock a week if not two.
My bay tree is looking naked.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:33, Reply)
I don't normally bother with Bay Leaves.
I just can't get my head around putting it in then taking it out (ba-doom - tish!) but Ze German has a tree so I might give it a whirl now that we are co-habiting.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:35, Reply)
You put it in to flavour
then take it out because no one likes eating dried leaves, then you turn around and stab a fork in your eye
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:36, Reply)
aye, ill give it a whirl -
the bay leaf not the fork but tbh, my stock tastes grand without it.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:40, Reply)
Peppercorns too, half a handful.
Really improves the flavour without imparting any of that peppery heat. Don't add salt though.
(, Wed 17 Mar 2010, 12:42, Reply)
garlic lime and wine chicken with mushrooms
it's only 8:42 here but since this thread is here I'm dreaming about lunch cause all I'll have until then is juicy fruit
