Oh, and Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z.

I was just listening to End of the Line
I now have Shakira in my herad as I read some Breast story taht mentioned her small and humble breasts
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 13:43, Reply)
I'm listening to it right now.
But I'm thinking of Shakira's humble breasts and her magic hips.

I doubt you'll have a problem confusing them for mountains

(, Thu 13 May 2010, 13:48, Reply)
I hear ya.

(, Thu 13 May 2010, 13:56, Reply)
the drumming on Stoney Glory makes me happy

(, Thu 13 May 2010, 13:56, Reply)
is it you that's obsessed by them?
An when I say them, I still don't know who you're talking about. Obviously Tractor, but the 70's band (possibly from bristol?) or the Spanish band from 2009?
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 13:59, Reply)
it's Monty that is obsessed
I've listened though, and I like them

the 70s band is the one.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:05, Reply)
Oh, ok.
I'd heard the ramblings about this 'Tractor' lot and investigated. I mistakenly found the spanish band who are FUCKING INCREDIBLE!

I can only find them on spotify at the moment though. Hard to track down elsewhere it seems.

Go listen!
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:08, Reply)
I'll try and do so later
fortunately I have spotify, even though I loathe it.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:12, Reply)
What you talking 'bout Willis?
It's all of the ace.

If it wasn't for Spotify, I'd probably just listen to the radio and get massively into U2 and Coldplay.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:23, Reply)
you would no longer be a person if you did that
on my first few attempts to use spotify it didn't come up with any of the things I looked for.

when not upstairs in my house I listen to Planet Rock on the radio, and when upstairs I listen to my music collection, which expands all the time because people give me things. I haven't downloaded anything for ages.

don't think I've ever listened to them, mind

they went downhill after the first couple of albums
imo
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 13:56, Reply)
your mileage may vary
white pony is still one of my favourite albums ever. and the new one is heavy as fuck. stephen carpenter obviously got his way!
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:06, Reply)
white pony was when I switched off
my tastes changed a little at that point though.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:07, Reply)
i saw them live
on the white pony tour in 2000. still one of the best gigs i've EVER seen.

and i've seen metallica play 'master of puppets' in order at donington park :D

download 2006
it was the 20th anniversary.

honestly, the atmosphere was amazing as they went offstage after 5 or 6 songs, then the video screens started up and everyone started to work out what they were going to do. awe-inspiring.

ooh! found a video.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:28, Reply)
I guess they had to do that
to make up for how shit St Anger was.

I saw them just after it came out and fortunately they only played two songs from it.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:35, Reply)
i saw them at download in 2004 as well
which was the weird one where lars didn't show. even then they didn't play much off st. anger. funny that.

and of course, lars was horrendously shown up by joey jordison, dave lombardo and even his own fucking drum tech! tool.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:38, Reply)
heh
his drumming is getting worse too. I remarked yesterday that when I saw them last year he couldn't properly manage the double bass drum bit from the middle of One

it's not like he can use age as an excuse
i mean, gene hoglan's in his 40s too and he's a fucking machine.

if you like iron maiden (even a little bit)
then it is well worth watching. They are dudes. in spite of what Monty might say about Bruce Dickinson being the Colin Hunt of metal bands.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:54, Reply)
i shall attempt it
although i have a very poor record for watching films recommended to me by other people. i haven't even seen 'some kind of monster' yet...
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 15:14, Reply)
metallica do not come off well in some kind of monster
it's interesting enough, particularly the bit where they audition bassists and hire the current guy. particularly the multi-million dollar golden handshake.

aah dragonforce
guitar solos so insane that it makes it impossible to concentrate

I'm pleased that I found them well before they got signed
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:13, Reply)
I roadied for them last year.
They're such a bunch of knobs.

Some kid won a fucking competition to meet them and get their autographs and they blanked the poor fucker completely.

What REALLY fucked me off is that they insisted on bringing and using their own stage, PA and lights. In a venue that has better standard gear in all 3 departments. That meant I had to completely empty the venue, then load it again with stuff that didn't fit in the lift and had to be carried up 2 flights of stairs, then unload it at the end of the night, down the fucking stairs and THEN re-load all the stuff we'd taken out. That's more that 2 gig's worth of work for which I only got paid once.

Plus, the drummer doesn't actually play most of his kit - it's all triggered samples so he 'looks' good but is technically rather dull.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:29, Reply)
that's pretty gay
you can kind of tell that they will be like that.

and let's face it, no one gets to play like that on the guitar by having any friends, or any social skills.
(, Thu 13 May 2010, 14:34, Reply)
They are quite possible the gayest band I have ever heard.
Utter, utter shit.

Fast but not in the least bit heavy - ghastly widdling, bent keyboards, shit name - everything that could possibly be wrong in a band...

I listened to that.
Initially I found it quite amusing, the dialogue was pretty good, but the songs went on way past the not-funny-any-more point and eventually any enjoyment I had initially experienced became a distant memory and it got on my tits something chronic.

To summarise: it was fucking shit.
