Incongruity
as I expounded badly learnedly on the epistles of St Jerome, Sweet Transvestite started playing on my Spotify despite me not remembering adding it.

What things haven't fitted together for you today?

Alt Q: Clubbing or doing something useful?
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:39, 145 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
The computer system at work. It's DOS based and is not intuitive in the slightest. Basically there's 2 ways of doing everything except what you really want to do, like take payments and check case histories.
Never clubbing because I'm old.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:44, Reply)
oh wot.
dos and systems and doing things i dont get.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:46, Reply)
Yup, I'm not keen on it. If I wanted to be a receptionist then I'd be a bloody receptionist since they get paid more than nurses.

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:50, Reply)
no one knows what exactly i do at work
i like to keep it that way. all enigmatic and turning up late and shit
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:51, Reply)
Man, if I did that I'd get fired. I was told that on my 3rd day at a job that if I was consistantly late then animals would die.
No matter that I'd been involved in a bus accident and didn't have keys to get into the sodding clinic. Oh and I'd been nursing for all of 3 days, so wouldn't know how to save the animal anyway.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:52, Reply)
i ent ever been in a club
so imma say useful. unless its the pub and then im all about that. but not with screechy girls i only drink with the bigger boys
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:45, Reply)
Oh man, you missed the good days of Eros =((((
Rip eros, 4eva in our hartes
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:12, Reply)
Seeing as I've been doing something useful all day
i.e. ironing, I'd opt for the clubbing. But as it happens I'm just about to pop round to the in-laws for dinner, which is probably a better option since I have no money and don't get paid for another two weeks.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:46, Reply)
Well dinner should be nice
and wine which should be even better
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:52, Reply)
it depends which club innit
I may choose to stay home if you're picking some shit fucking place to go to alright son
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:46, Reply)
pull fucking rank innit, tell them how it is and where youre off to

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:47, Reply)
it's a bad club
with bad music, but good people.

Weigh that against St Jerome
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:50, Reply)
If it's a fetish club then I'm up for it.
I've never been to one yet. Otherwise I'd go for something useful.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:49, Reply)
They can be rather fun, I went to one last year and it was an eye opener. This was a rather extreme one though.

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:50, Reply)
I think it would be the making of me : )

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:56, Reply)
There would be no stopping you!

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:57, Reply)
I've never been to one
it is a gay night though.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:52, Reply)
Never been to one either
so if I could take a dictaphone I could call it research for a story and claim it's useful.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 19:56, Reply)
Clubbing with good mates is a right laugh, but if one of your group aint in the mood, it's shit.
I prefer bars where I can get nice cocktails and conversation.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:11, Reply)
I prefer a quiet pub as well

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:13, Reply)
Clubbing IS useful
It keeps those frightful seadogs away from all our lovely, lovely fish, and it gives us the materials to make the rather fetching pelt-pants I have on today
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:13, Reply)
Was it my 6 hour playlist of every song I love?
That might be responsible.

I'm not a huge fan of clubbing unless I'm in the right mindframe and that's quite rare at the moment. I like the pub, some of the funniest times have been sitting in the Hermit's Depraved or the Duke or the Rocket or any other pub I like. Some dreadful times, but I'd rather a pub than a club.
Unless it's 5th, that trumps everything.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:24, Reply)
I think you're right
It was your list playing. I hadn't noticed because the songs before it were on my own playlist. Still quite odd timing.

5th? I shall show my ignorance
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:50, Reply)
Hahahah
I think that playlist is the greatest thing I've ever achieved. Every song is on there for a reason.

Because I love it, it makes me laugh,it reminds me of good time or all three.

Club in Manchester, den of wastrels.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 20:56, Reply)
den of wastrels?
sounds fun.

I'm loving my own shit playlist. I keep adding stuff to it randomly. Including a bizarre cover version of Disturbia retitled Chlamydia

I'm watching the Aristocats on youtube. Amazing.

(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:42, Reply)
Aristocats is actually very funny
the two dogs, the geese, and the kittens if you ignore Marie who's an irritating little shit.

Plus the songs are kick-ass.

5TH IS THE BEST CLUB IN THE WORLD.
This has become undisputed fact after the epic night of the ten the other week.

Night of the Ten

Too many good nights to list from 5th.
The night where I sang this all night and met my last boyfriend ranks highly though :D

Just got back from Physics society AGM
(sounds posher than it is, we were all in the pub and only the position of president was contested, so the actual meeting part was fairly short)

Supposed to be revising, really can't be bothered.
Not a great fan of clubbing (though that's mostly because all of the people I like enough that I'd enjoy going out clubbing with them don't like clubbing), plus the oxford ones can be a bit meh (but are still a LOT better than the ones back home).

My something useful may be starting on the programming project I was going to save until over the holidays
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:17, Reply)
hah
Oxford clubs are really rubbish. Though Bridge can be alright, and Babylove on a Tuesday. Fuzzy Ducks when it is around was okay as well
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:21, Reply)
Where is home?
My hometown has some fantastic clubs and pubs: all kinds of shit goes down, pretty much anything any day of the week :D

I don't have a hometown, I am a nomad :(

It feels like I've lived everywhere
so I don't really have a home. I don't think of Ireland as home- I've only ever lived there for a few weeks at a time.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:43, Reply)
Oh I forgot you were "Irish"
Where have you lived?
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:45, Reply)
not Irish at all
some of my family is though. I'm born and bred British however.

I've lived in London, Brighton, Surrey, Yorkshire, Up North, Bristol and Oxford. And Cork and Kerry in Ireland
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:51, Reply)
My goodness, that's all over the place
Most exotic is Westwood, L.A., CA. And only fr 10 months or so.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:54, Reply)
I think California trumps my list :)
But my family thinks of Ireland as home, while I don't. I've got no emotional connection to it, and though I like seeing my family, I really don't like where they live
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:56, Reply)
Where do you think you'll end up?
I might stay in London, but I admit, Scotland appeals because of the weather. Though I think Sis will end up marrying someone from the Hebrides and having lots of ginger children, so she might shotgun Scotland.
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:57, Reply)
I'm definitely
going to end up living in London. Though if I got a chance New York would be fantastic
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 21:59, Reply)

Done about half.
Though actually, need part of it explaining properly anyway, so not a bad thing to bring up at a revision session.
Don't let me stay on here till 2 again tonight, got to go hand in lab work tomorrow and talk some of it over with a fellow, so can't be too tired.

you're not a student until you stay up until six to get an essay done, grab two hours sleep and a shower, then dash to your tute clutching the essay it took you twenty minutes to find a working printer for, only to arrive ten minutes late, sweating and apologising.

Or is that just me?
(, Tue 1 Jun 2010, 22:33, Reply)
I would be like that

Just the Guildford one is an absolute shithole.
Oxford spoons (Four Candles) is nice, and Godalming spoons is a fantastic pub, which I've been in more than all the pubs in the rest of Surrey put together.

Yeah
I know a few people who want to go, but I don't want to be forced into compromise over what to do/see etc, especially as I'd be the only historian. I might meet up with them though. The accommodation in hostels is relatively expensive though

Plus, I enjoy our library. Though now FitFinder's been taken off it's no longer as fun :(

I'm eating bits of crunchie, it's safe to say I've not been.
FitFinder is a website where you go to post if you've seen a hottie in the library. Unis asked for it to be taken off as it apparently stopped people working.
FFS facebook was worse.

Oh man I can't believe you've not seen Aristocats!
It's only about 80 mins, like, less than 2 episodes of House long.
You should watch it.

I just saw the bit with "Ev'rybody Wants To Be A Cat", there's a character called Scat-Cat and a really racist Siamese cat that plays piano with chopsticks.
