Soundtracks!
Oh man I was totally rocking out in my car a bit ago, it's put me in a super happy mood.
I'm a pop slut.
Songs included:
Fergalicious, "I said never again (but here we are)" and "So Good" by Rachel Stevens, Womanizer, "Buttons" by the Pussycat Dolls and so many more that I can't remember

What songs make you happy?
Alt q: What songs make you cry?
Mine are "Possibility" by Lykke Li, "If You're Reading This" by Tim McGraw and "Feels Like Home" Chantal Kreviazuk

Hammer Smashed Face is rather good
You going Bloodstock?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:08, Reply)
I was being facetious - Cannibal Corpse is a bit much for me
as is all of Bloodstock to be honest.
Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica is about as heavy as I get

I love diamonds on the soles of her shoes.
I prefer you can call me al though

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:02, Reply)
I'm here and feel no guilt waht-so-ever
I'm having the Top Gun theme played at my funeral and I think many, many people think that is a gash song.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:12, Reply)
Only way that can be done is if someone stands on your coffin playing the guitar

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:13, Reply)

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:18, Reply)
glad to hear it
the Top Gun theme is fucking awesome. I need to relearn it on the guitar. Particularly as I now have a delay pedal.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:16, Reply)
They were playing it as I got onto a plane, once
I think, perhaps the pilots had it on to make them feel cooler
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:19, Reply)
I would play Highway to the Dangerzone at take off
Or a Buddy Holly, John Denver and Aaliyah medley.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:20, Reply)
wait - I thought Highway to the Dangerzone
was the Top Gun theme?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:21, Reply)
naa
the theme goes: do do doo do do do do do dooo do do doo do do doo do do doooo dooooo
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:24, Reply)
I love how the war of the worlds soundtrack
starts good then gets progressively worse. Have you seen the live show?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:06, Reply)
I haven't, but would love to

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:06, Reply)
someone bought be the DVD
it mostly involves Jeff Wayne looking smug and conducting badly. My dad liked it when he went to see it, too.

edit: also I just realised that the soundtrack is right next to me - I think I need to get a life
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:08, Reply)
I can imagine that

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:11, Reply)
I've never heard either of those
thank you for enlightening me

It's not my usual kinda stuff but it's just all happy and bouncy.
And the lyrics are quite dark.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:47, Reply)
fair enough
think it was one that was overplayed when I was at school.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:48, Reply)
Feeder and their stupid CD playerplayerplayerplayer song
was played to death when I was at school.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:53, Reply)
yeah, I don't like them either
saw them supporting Reef before they were big, and they were average then. nowhere near as good as Reef or A

and then they got worse.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:54, Reply)
did A do that Starbucks song?

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:57, Reply)
possibly
they went a bit shit too
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:58, Reply)
Yes they did.
I've just replaced my copy of hifi serious.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:32, Reply)
I don't hear anything about Reef for years
then today a student keeps singing 'put your hands on' and you start talking about them
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:07, Reply)
odd how that sort of thing happens
they released a best of a year or two ago, which featured a couple of B-sides (I think) that were better than almost all of their other songs.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:12, Reply)
I think I have their album on my itunes
(stupid ex-husband left it on there) From what I've heard of it, it wasn't great
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:14, Reply)
they went shit after their second album
and in hindsight, not much of that was good either

plus I discovered fairly recently that the music from one of their best songs was entirely ripped off from someone else.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:18, Reply)
I remember that summer.
That and the Wannadies. You and me always?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:53, Reply)

1996? That was the best year ever at uni
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:20, Reply)
happy?
all hail the new flesh by Strapping Young Lad

sad? um, i'll get back to you on that...
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:43, Reply)
I prefer either Love? or Relentless

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:10, Reply)
see, i got into them through 'alien'
but city is still the best album in my book. the 1-2-3 of velvet kevorkian, new flesh and OMFG cannot be beat ;)
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:23, Reply)
Alison Krauss - I went Down to the River to Pray, makes me happy
Radiohead - How to disappear completely, makes me sad
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:46, Reply)
Does the Alison Krauss version make you wish you were a Dapper Dan man?

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:48, Reply)
Very much so I would look awsome witha pencil line moustache

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:49, Reply)

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:50, Reply)
And a strap-on beard.

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:52, Reply)
oh man, Alison Krauss, I love that song
it really brings an odd feeling when I listen to it, like peace and pride.
I love being from the south.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:52, Reply)
Happy: RJD2 - Ghost Writer
Sad: The slower moments of The Fountain soundtrack by Clint Mansell.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:53, Reply)
party hard by Andrew WKD makes me happy
one of the songs by Evanescence makes me cry (similar reasons to vipros' - I listened to it on the way to my Gran's funeral)
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:04, Reply)
WHEN IT'S TIME TO PARTY WE WILL PARTY HARD!

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:07, Reply)
NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH!

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:07, Reply)
I normally get annoyed with people who use the word "party" as a verb
But I forgave Andrew WK, mainly because the "Party hard, party hard, party hard" refrain in between verses on that song sounds like they're singing "Har-de-har, har-de-har, har-de-har."
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:08, Reply)
also one of his tracks was
"Party 'til you puke" What's not to love?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:09, Reply)
Also "We want fun"

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:15, Reply)
lyrical genius

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:17, Reply)
YES YES AND THRICE YES
Our Dark Trinity each have our own motto, and mine is "quod amamus agimus et quod agimus amamus". Latin makes even Andrew WK classy.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 18:31, Reply)
Happy: Master Of Puppets by Metallica & No Suprises by Radiohead
Sad: Fuck It (I Don't Want You Back) by Eamon (again, it's all down to the circumstances) & I Miss You by Incubus
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:12, Reply)
That song makes me sad, because I know I will never get to punch Eamon in his fucking face

(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:14, Reply)
No surprises makes you
happy? Really?!
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:18, Reply)
It's all about the video
The look of utter pride on his face after he's held his breath for ages.

Plus, it's a fucking fantastic song, the only one I like. I think the rest are shite.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:22, Reply)
I like the song
and I love the album, but No Surprises stood for everything I feared in life, and the album came out just as I left uni. I blame it for why I've only just started a real career and don't own a house
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:23, Reply)
Happy?
Sad to say Britney Spears Toxic makes me happy. I associate it with good times. Also Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden)

Suzanne by Leonard Cohen makes me sad, but no song has ever made me cry. I don't get very emotionally involved in music. Also the Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence theme song
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:44, Reply)
that
Kreviazuk track is really quite saddening.

Currently, OLP's "Innocent" is making me feel happy, reminds me of piss-taking with my friends
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:48, Reply)
Just at the moment
Happy: Rear View Mirror by Pearl Jam, a rediscovered jem
Cry: Falling Slowly by Glenn Hansard and Marketa Irglova off the Once Soundtrack. The whole film chokes me up.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 18:25, Reply)
Depends upon my mood.
Sometimes some ska will put me into a kick-ass mood, sometimes it's Squirrel Nut Zippers, sometimes it's Bonzo Dog (doo-dah) Band. Other times it will be something clam and gentle that eases me into a relaxed and happy state.

Good news of the day- I have full range of motion back in my ankle and am healing at an unprecedented rate. I've been approved to put 150 lbs weight on my ankle, and they think that next week they can move me to full weight. My mutant genetics are still strong, it would seem.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 18:32, Reply)
HaHa
Clam and gentle. Freudian?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 18:36, Reply)
