which I used to listen to with a good friend of mine who died
it was played at his funeral

I'm having the Top Gun theme played at my funeral and I think many, many people think that is a gash song.

I will also need:
A wind machine
Mourners in short skirts
Fire
A Helicopter gunship
Zooey Deschanel (who will be buried alive with me so I'm not lonely)
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:17, Reply)
the Top Gun theme is fucking awesome. I need to relearn it on the guitar. Particularly as I now have a delay pedal.

I think, perhaps the pilots had it on to make them feel cooler

Or a Buddy Holly, John Denver and Aaliyah medley.

starts good then gets progressively worse. Have you seen the live show?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:06, Reply)
it mostly involves Jeff Wayne looking smug and conducting badly. My dad liked it when he went to see it, too.
edit: also I just realised that the soundtrack is right next to me - I think I need to get a life

Happy - Wake up Boo (Boo Radleys)
Cry - Make you feel my love (Bryan Ferry)

saw them supporting Reef before they were big, and they were average then. nowhere near as good as Reef or A
and then they got worse.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 16:54, Reply)
then today a student keeps singing 'put your hands on' and you start talking about them
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:07, Reply)
they released a best of a year or two ago, which featured a couple of B-sides (I think) that were better than almost all of their other songs.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:12, Reply)
(stupid ex-husband left it on there) From what I've heard of it, it wasn't great
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:14, Reply)
and in hindsight, not much of that was good either
plus I discovered fairly recently that the music from one of their best songs was entirely ripped off from someone else.

But I forgave Andrew WK, mainly because the "Party hard, party hard, party hard" refrain in between verses on that song sounds like they're singing "Har-de-har, har-de-har, har-de-har."
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:08, Reply)
"Party 'til you puke" What's not to love?
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:09, Reply)
Our Dark Trinity each have our own motto, and mine is "quod amamus agimus et quod agimus amamus". Latin makes even Andrew WK classy.

The look of utter pride on his face after he's held his breath for ages.
Plus, it's a fucking fantastic song, the only one I like. I think the rest are shite.
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:22, Reply)
and I love the album, but No Surprises stood for everything I feared in life, and the album came out just as I left uni. I blame it for why I've only just started a real career and don't own a house
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:23, Reply)
Sad to say Britney Spears Toxic makes me happy. I associate it with good times. Also Run to the Hills (Iron Maiden)
Suzanne by Leonard Cohen makes me sad, but no song has ever made me cry. I don't get very emotionally involved in music. Also the Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence theme song
(, Thu 10 Jun 2010, 17:44, Reply)
Kreviazuk track is really quite saddening.
Currently, OLP's "Innocent" is making me feel happy, reminds me of piss-taking with my friends

Happy: Rear View Mirror by Pearl Jam, a rediscovered jem
Cry: Falling Slowly by Glenn Hansard and Marketa Irglova off the Once Soundtrack. The whole film chokes me up.

Sometimes some ska will put me into a kick-ass mood, sometimes it's Squirrel Nut Zippers, sometimes it's Bonzo Dog (doo-dah) Band. Other times it will be something clam and gentle that eases me into a relaxed and happy state.
Good news of the day- I have full range of motion back in my ankle and am healing at an unprecedented rate. I've been approved to put 150 lbs weight on my ankle, and they think that next week they can move me to full weight. My mutant genetics are still strong, it would seem.
