Time for a new one.
I'm going for some sushi tonight, well fancy it, first time this week (tuesday doesn't count 'cus it was supermarket sushi and was rubbish). I bought some really poncy nice cheese this week that my flatmate threw out 'cus it smelled, BUT THAT WAS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. It was called "ardraham irish farmhouse cheese", well lush. Yup, tonight is deffo the kind of night for sushi.
I got my uncle some
poncy cards for his birthday tomo. I really don't wanna go, hate big family things, you alright with family doos?
Totally listenin' to The Godzilla soundtrack, probably one of the best soundtracks, it's up there with Batman Returns soundtrack.
Seen any good flicks lately? I mean, on DVD or something, rather than at the picture house. I think tonight is a Movie Watching kindda night.

Ditto, I can take them all individually, just not en-mass.
I never know what the rules are in regards to how to act, like you could be talking to the lot around your age about sick jokes, but then your older aunty is standing behind you shocked to the very core, and then there are the young ones who spot you smoking 'round the corner and start asking awquard questions about cancer. Then I don't really drink, at least, not at these things, so people are like "Do you want a beer? wine? Whisky? You sure all your want is some tap water?" looking at you weird. Then there is Cousin John who's got a First in nuculear medicine and has cured cancer in rats, and Cousin Jane who has a new £100kpa job. And then there is Aunty Anita who quizes you about everything in [my] health, and how her best friend's sister cut out dairy 'cus she had IBS and is now 100% cured.

It depends on which family it is.
I detest my Dad's side of the family, cos they're horrible to my mum, ignore my sister and are insufferably dull and up them selves.
My mum's side is a right laugh, though especially my grandad.
As for films. I watched The Big Lebowski the other night are was severely disappointed. Planet Terror though - fantastic.

There is one I want more than any other records that I can think of: 'Shogun Assassin'. It was released on a limited run of 500 as a bootleg a while back. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get hold of and I covet this nugget of 80s synth magic big time.

I knew it was you who agreed with me about this
I've had so much shit from friends for not liking LiT, apparently I don't 'get it'. There's nothing to get! It fundamentally failed as a medium of entertainment.

having just watched the Prestige I can also confidently state that Scarlett Johanssen is overrated in the attractiveness department

was better than the Prestige.
But Scarlett Johannsen is very pretty, she has an excellent figure

without wanting to be too blunt: fuck off

The Prestige was overrated in the extreme. Even removing Ed Norton from it, I enjoyed it more. And with the addition of Ed Norton, well.
Edit: though I will admit I was ill when I saw The Prestige. Maybe it'll benefit from a rewatch

there's kind of two parts to the ending
the christian bale one is much better executed in the film than the hugh jackman one

well Christian Bale is better
than Hugh Jackman so fair enough. I was talking more about the carefulness of how the illusion was unwound in the Illusionist, as compared to how it remained with a supernatural emphasis in the Prestige

it's less supernatural and more "he's got a machine from a brilliant scientist that is supposed to teleport you, but actually duplicates you"
the build up to it, and the actual reveal were quite well handled I thought.

but the fact is
that science is almost as far from us, as it was from the time of the film. So while not supernatural, it was a really lazy way out of a film that was so much about magic and the power of illusion and tricks

But I think that was 'cus I just read a book, fiction, which was based around Tesla's stuff, but in the modern days. He's really really interesting, only reason he isn't as famous as Eignstine, is 'cus he invented a wireless way of getting power, and [some company] had just layed out a load of powerlines which would have been made redundant. And now, that technology works in labs and will probably be implimented in the next 10 years into most homes.

The former was pretty good, harrowing and a little stomach-churning with only (!) three 'suspension of disbelief' moments. The first half of Bullitt was stylish and classical.

Primer - Cracking low budget film about time travel, very well handled.
Holy Mountain - Fucked up art-house film from the mid 60's, only watched half so far then had to put it off as it was so tiring. Not in a boring sense, but the fact that each scene was so overwhelming.
Bad Boy Bubby - Hadn't watched this in ages, but got it on hi def a few weeks back. Cracking film, funny and disturbing in equal measures.
