What albums/music have you recently re-discovered? I watched fight club for the first time in years the other night and downloaded the soundtrack again as I lost it during my last house move. The incendiary bass of the dust brothers is a sheer delight. Also the back catalogue of Gene is a must right now since the lead singer is recording new stuff again.
Alt Q: what's changed in your life recently? Do you like it or want to fuck its shit up?

Rediscovered my love of the Afghan Whigs. Been singing "What jail is like" to catfaceceilidhbaby. She's what's changed in my life recently and I definitely like her.

It's fucking dull. Although strangely enough I've recently been going through all my stuff and dragging out things I haven't bothered with for a while, such as Pixies: Doolittle and 'Withnail & I', both of which are genius and I don't listen to/watch enough.

and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
So now, as well as reminding me of hangovers and cold takeaway in my younger years, it also reminds me of a perfect weekend and a picnic IN A VILLAGE NAMED AFTER ME!!
Yup, recently I discovered that there was a village in Suffolk with my name, so on Saturday we found it and had a picnic and it was so pretty, I fell over as usual.

If a bit tiring, which wasn't helped by not being able to get to sleep afterwards. There's a link to photos on my FB page.

Sunday nights on BBC1.

I've got a few things queued up to watch currently. How I Met Your Mother & Lie To Me being the main 2.

waiting for Mark, and when finally put it on, I couldn't understand a single word. After 20 min of the first episode I had to give up.

I think House is just about my limit. I find it very difficult to follow when they're doing the differentials. I think I'm going to get it in Spanish.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:38, Reply)
purists may scoff but it removed a lot of ambiguity/confusion from the pretty intense plot.
Oh and the first 4 or so episodes I was very "meh" about, in fact I strongly disliked half the cast. But I perservered to the end of the first season, and it really was a cracking climax. OK so the first couple of episodes were boring, but it is a slow slow buildup which makes the ending so much more worthwhile.
From season 2 in every minute of every episode was a joy.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:49, Reply)
I don't think you should have to waste 4 hours on a TV show for it to get good.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:57, Reply)
I can quite honestly say that I'll never watch another show that comes close. Can't recommend it highly enough.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 10:34, Reply)
Besides series one was great also. I loved the first 3 episodes, you get to know the characters.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 11:58, Reply)
And I believe you. I wasted 20 min, and was falling asleep on the sofa.

Any idea when the new season starts? Last chapter was superb.

Season 6 of Weeds is available now though, that's a great show. I'd definitely recommend it, I think you'll enjoy it.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 10:01, Reply)
But I've never considered getting any of them beyond the first series. It's great fun, and I'll enjoy watching every episode if it's on, but I just don't want it enough.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 10:06, Reply)
It's a big change too. I loved how it started and how it ended. I'm looking forward to the next one.

but they do say it's worth watching with the subtitles on just to pick up on everything plus you learn cool new words like 'hoppers' and '5 o'
After all that nonsense on Friday I spent 4 hours in the Dental Hospital saw three different dentists and had 5 x rays to be told that my wisdom tooth is sat on the nerve and they cant take it out yet. Gimps.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:38, Reply)
Sorry about that. So, what are they going to do about it? Just leave it there?
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:39, Reply)
apparently it's my choice though they just say I have a much higher chance of having temporary or permanent numbness in my lip. Which I don't really mind about really just want the tooth out now as I can't brush it properly. Who knows??
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:45, Reply)
it took ages to get it back (more than a year), and it still feels a bit weird sometime. I wouldn't recommend it.
You can as well lose the hability to control it, and it'll be hanging like if you were silly, but that usually goes after some time (months)

You have great taste.

We found Mark a flat in Worthing and he's moving in 2 weeks (I'm going to miss him so much)

I finally took the step and bought 2 language courses: French and Mandarin.
I had a start with them yesterday. French seems quite straight forward and the grammar is very similar to the Spanish one, so I think it'll mostly be a matter of learning vocabulary and practising the speaking (my flatmate is French, so that should be ok)
The Mandarin one is... quite challenging. I bought it with the idea of having a try and learn a bit before paying for a teacher, and after 1h of listening to what sounds like the same word again and again, being told they mean completely different things, I know for sure I'll have to get a teacher for it.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:06, Reply)
My sister has bought a Rosetta Stone German package and if it's any good then I'll get a Spanish one.

The series it's from (Metalocalypse) makes me laugh, and the music isn't too bad at all.
Alt Q: I've gone on a bit of a downer recently, no energy to do anything at all, except watch films. I'm not particularly happy about it, but don't really give enough of a shit to care. (if that makes any sense at all)

Remarkable album with an epic quality to it, hugely influential and rightly so.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 9:09, Reply)
Slightly odd rhythm tracks and "found" vocals.
6/7 years later the chart was full of rather more obvious examples of the format.

I realise that I am best taking today off as leave.
I have had hay fever all night, I am completely spaced out, and I have also been on the dunny quite a bit.
In addition to this, Tigger is being my best mate in the whole world and is saying "Hiya! Wanna watch old films and lie on the couch with me?" Why, yes, Tigger, I do. Furthermore, I am too spaced out and itchy to work right now. I'll do some later from home.
