Right, it's slow here, so I'm gonna show off a tad, as I've just made the nicest meal I've made in months and months and months, and it's all my own recipie.
Fry off some sort of thai paste in a wok, I used mansomething, manung or something like that. Add half a packet of veg / cut your own veg, whatever you want, stir it all up, add in a nest of noodles, top up with a tin of coconut milk and half a tin of water, simmer for 15 minutes, add some prawns and when they're pink, they're done.
Pic in Replies.
I even got a posh tin opener from Marks, it's great, it opens the tin without any hassle at all, I should never have wasted all those years using shit one from the pound shop. And I got a lovely new bowel.
Anyway.... I'm just beakering, wrong time to beaker, hardly anyone is here, HELLO IF YOU ARE.
Tell me about the last time you thought to yourself "Oh gee oh gosh, I'm so swell".
I put the prawns in after the veg and they are over-done, but I know for next time.

do you reckon it should be in the oven on a low medium or high heat? In degrees C please
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 21:19, Reply)
Could try it in a low, around 160-180 for an hour...and then put it up for 10 minutes at the end to 200-210.
That's all guess work though without looking at it, is it doable to call it something else from loaf, like [ermm, I donno] "Lentle Rissotto" ?
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 21:24, Reply)
damn, I should have started this earlier. I've put some breadcrumbs in in the hope of making it more loafy. Might end up eating my own toes before it's cooked, though

Are you a veggy/in the company of veggies?
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 21:30, Reply)
but I remember a vegi housemate making it once many years ago and it was nice. I reckon I could put it in the freezer and have food all week. Food that includes VITAMINS

We're having extremely quick and slightly cheaty carbonara (i.e. the sauce is out of a pot).

Well I do, I mean for someone like me to go to an effort to rustle something up is pointless as I could devour a horse's carcass in about four minutes. There's no point spending X amount of time making dinner when it takes me ten times less to stuff it down my fat gob.
I had a decent salad earlier, it took roughly eleven seconds to prepare. That and the fact I'm not nearly as fat as I thought I was have made me feel rather swell today.

I kindda know what you're getting at, but I look at it, at least with me, as a combination of being creative and me being "worth it", like having a long soak in the bath or buying the black-label booze.

Dandy thanks, being back home with food, internet and a tele that has more than five channels has reinvigorated me. Although I'm bored already.
It makes no sense, if making an ace meal was a lot of effort but it only took five minutes, I'd do it. It's the time frame. I can't be arsed spending half hour making something, I'd rather just heat up soup. Christ, I'm such a student.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 21:01, Reply)
I think you need a few recipys that are quick'n'easy ones, I have about 5 that I can do in less than 15 minutes from prep-to-plate, but I truely understand the old "Making dinner for just one isn't worth it, might as well get a take-away". And not being funny or nothing, but some of these are way more enjoyable than going to a take-away, at least on a regular basis. Granted, a ping-meal has it's place in the singledom/student's home, but just not on a daily basis.
Donno if you are single, or why I presumed that, nothing personal, don't even know you, but I presume you're cooking for one most of the time.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 21:10, Reply)
and I'd still cook for one, I can't be arsed.
I don't do takeaways, or shit microwave meals. I eat pretty much the exact same thing every night. Grilled chicken breast or salmon fillets, and mixed baby spinach and mushrooms. With a variation of sauces. Takes five minutes, fills me up and I can eat as much as I want as there's sod all rubbish in it.

I love love love swimming, laps especially.
Oh man, I should totally join the gym just so I can use the pool.
(, Mon 26 Jul 2010, 21:30, Reply)
There is a LA Fitness [chain gyms] down the road that totally played me, it was the pool why I went, but they never limited people so it was packed, but it was tiny so was totally shit. My cousin works at another one of them and they actually play games about selling unsuitable schemes to people.

I once went swimming with a friend of mine, just a bit of exercise. At some point, though we both got competitive. We'd get to, say 40 lengths, then be like "I could do 10 more, easily". We did about 70 or 80 two days running. The next day we were both quite poorly
