When you talk about music I usually don´t know the groups or songs you´re talking about, and I know you won´t give a shit about the ones I like, so I normally don´t participate.
However, today I´ve been surprised by this girl www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hRhqYb-rbk&feature=related and I thought I´d share it with you, as I really like her music and can´t believe I hadn´t heard of her before. And I think some of you might like.
Any surprises recently?

There aren't many modern female singers I like.

Well, I dunno, it might be. But I have just discovered Pulled Apart By Horses and their album is acemans.

Not bad. They're the kind of thing I would have liked 20 years ago. I'm too old for shouty music now. It grates on me.

But I've really got into it as of late. I'm also really digging MGMT's new album. I hated Kids and Time to Pretend and all that rubbish, but their new album is great fun. Plus they hate their 'famous' songs more than I do; and any band that instead of playing them onstage play an elongated forty five minute instrumental of the Ghostbusters theme tune is fine by me.

They used to go out of their way to annoy the audience. They'd lengthen the opening to Kids to ridiculous times whilst playing hockey on stage as well. And then walk off. I read somewhere that at a gig in New York they were building up tempo on one song, and then got all their mates on the stage to sit in a circle, where they then hacked open durian fruits I think it was (either way a notoriously foul smelling Japanese fruit or something) and cleared the entire venue, resulting in them being banned from playing there ever again.

I like that keyboard and vocals is done by an Abominable Snowman.

I went to a meeting this evening and for once wasn't piloried mercilessly for being the 'face of authority'. That made a nice change.

and they came up with it all on their own in the middle of Texas, worlds away from the San Fransisco scene that took the credit. One of the most innovative, interesting and ultimately heart-rending* footnotes in modern music history. I am most pleased you liked it.

I feel privileged to have managed to see him three times before his premature passing, once at the Albert Hall, once at Festival hall and once at a festival in Kent.
On a totally different note Taylor Momsen shouldn't be allowed to have this good a voice considering she is already a successful actress and has only been 17 for 3 days...:

I like her band and she's good in Gossip Girl but she's such a little wannabe rock chick. She's only 17 and she already looks like a mini Courtney Love, she needs to pack it in.
